Ok, while racing an SRT-4 last night, I saw smoke coming out the back of my car. Looked white from the rear view mirror. I asked the kids in the neon and they said they were not sure what the color was, not black but it smelled like shit. Today I checked my coolant resivor and noticed that it is dry. I am assuming my headgasket it blown. The resivoir was full 2 days ago when I swapped the alternator.
I have a new headgasket and ARP's which are waiting to go in. I am wondering if it is possible to pull the head without touching the timing belt. Can I unbolt the CAS and remove the half moon and slide the cams out towards the pass side while leaving the cam gears zip tied to the belt? Is it possible? Do I HAVE to relieve some of the timing belt tension to remove the cams? My plan is to do it the way above assuming it works. Seems like it would work. If not, maybe I could get some help from someone more experienced when the time comes???
