Re: New dsm to minnesota?
"This thing does... ummm... its got lots of different things it does."
"Here we have readouts... This is a turbo timer."
"This tells you readouts."
"This one, you can do this and you can do that."
Guy sounds like he has no friggen clue what he is talking about.
I pray to God that I'm wrong, cause if you buy this, it might be a nightmare. If he did it all himself, who knows what could be wrong with it. If he paid a shop to do it all, his money and intelligence ratio is way off... and his intelligence is the part that is heavily lacking.

LOL!
This car seems really nice, and does have some nice things going for it. What numbers did it put down? On what dyno was it tuned on? Somebody has put some money into it, or at least it seems that way. I'd have him bring it into whatever shop he goes to, and have them give it a thorough going through, and get in writing if there are any problems. If you're buying a car out of state, you gotta be twice as careful, and also be ready to come home without a car, if it's not what you want. If you get out there, and it's shit, you can't feel obligated to take it home.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
you can find a clean one local. unless you are going out to have it checked out your self I would not even think about it.
All that crap in side the car need to go
all you need is
dsmlink (dump the safc2)
boost gauge
oil press gauge
aem wide band (dump the narrow band
take out
the avcr and put in a mbc
narrow band
egt
safc2
move the aem wideband to the piller
move or take out the blitz turbo timer
the 5 point is not hooked up right at all
remove the so called car audio install and redo it right.
from the out side it looks clean. you need to get it up in a lift and check out the under side of the car and all the balljoints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, bushings, ect
also there is no way it is making 400who on the big 16g

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
yeah, he clearly has no idea what is going on with his car, and that means there is huge potential that the idiot messed it up.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
Ok the previous owner was the one who did all the parts. The guy was a semi pro race car driver and this was his car he built. The guy who owns it now has had all work done by a shop

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
even owning/driving a modified car and not knowing whats done to it or having mechanical know-how is a dangerous proposition.

Re: New dsm to minnesota?
My vote still stands for buying locally. With patience you'll find something as good if not better than that locally. I know it seems like that's the car for you, but there are some things that throw up a red flag. Personally, it would be hard for me to trust a car I just bought (especially unknowing of who did the work, or how it was done) and trekking it half way across the country.
Just because it was supposedly built by some Pro-Am racer doesn't mean anything once it's out of his hands. Any bonehead can start throwing parts in to it, messing around with the tune etc...Overall, this could be a real money pit, and not the fun go-fast parts kind of money pit; more like the I gotta keep this thing running and somewhat reliable money pit.
None of us are trying to rain on your parade, we're just looking out for you.
