I had my tranny taken apart this morning while I watch to see what was wrong. i just had it rebuild and it siezed after about 400 miles. The verdict is in. Tranny failure due to end of axel shaft end breaking off inside front diff. Just like it sounds caused two failures.

One- the axle end got caught on the large gear portion of the front diff, cause some cracking and a big hole where it poped through. Scuff marks all around where it was bouncing and catching before its exit.

Two- after it broke loose there was a leak at the axel. This lead to the 1-2, shaft getting welded to the large barring on the end. Dry issue also ruined both of the new shift forks as well.

This is actually less damage than I was expecting. I was ready for the diffs to be shot and the gears all chewed up. There are no chewed up gears at all and the syncros look good.

This is good news as I took the motor apart last night and foun the block I was just going to freshen, had nuked itself. Nothing cooler than finding a pan full of metal when you least expect it.

Will post pics tommorow, there pretty good.

So thats two long block, two trannys, one head and one turbo. Mileage ~ 500-600.

Here is what happens when you run bad leaded gas. The head was fresh from the machine shop with only a few hundred miles. The Mani was cleaned of all deposits at the same time. Anyone else want to bet the turbo took some abuse and the cats shot?

Heres what the oil pan looked like

I still don't know what happend to the bottom end.
