Weird Tranny Problem

WHen i was driving down the highway today, all of a sudden the speedo shot up and the car just kinda coasted, i pulled it out of gear and put it back in and it was fine. Then a few mins later, did it again. If thats not the same as mine does anyone know what it could be?
Then when i was going to work today, I put it into gear and went to pull out. And it just sat and reved. I pulled the E brake and left it in gear and i just let it sit with it in gear. Its so weird, its like the clutch is slipping, its brand new..
Help please.

Who installed the clutch? New throw out bearing? Also where does the clutch engage? I drove my car around today and the egagment is at the top of the pedal travel and if I floor it the clutch slips.

I fixed it. Its exactly what i thought. The driver side cv shaft fell out. Its all better now.
