Selling a Modded DSM

This is NOT a For Sale Thread

If I were to sell my car, would I potentially get the most back if I put my 1G back to stock, and sold my mod parts seperately? Or sell it all the way it is?
It's a red 1992 tsi awd 5 spd, no rust (glossy), 6bolt/4bolt, leather and sunroof, 142k, rebuilt motor, babied rebuilt tranny, all docs since I've owned it (I've fixed a BUNCH of stuff), and it has almost all bolt ons you can do.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: Selling a Modded DSM

In my experience, you're better off putting it back to stock and selling the parts separately. Example: I had a '97 GST, 16g, FMIC, etc... Took all mods off except exhaust and put it back to stock. Sold it to a guy. Then sold the parts on ebay and the trader. With the money I got, i actually was in the positive when i bought my '99 GSX with way less miles. I gained a way nicer/newer car and had money to buy new mods.

Modded or not, nobody wants to give shit for cars so that's why i think it's better to part out as much as possible.

My guess is if you bring it back to stock, people would think it's a virgin (always good for cars , rarity now adays.) Then, part out your aftermarket and you'll probably make half or 3/4 (depends if you're a smooth talker) back out of what you spent on aftermarket.

Re: Selling a Modded DSM

You would make more selling it stock and selling the parts if you would want to take the time to put it back to stock.

DSM16sec-how do you figure getting half to 3/4 of the money back for the aftermarker parts? It all depends on how much he got the parts before and what parts they are. It is possible to make money on parts if you buy them used and got a deal on them.
