Mitsu Mirage
When you guys are at junk yards check out Mirages.Turns out they have Eprom ECUs in them, the same ECUs that come in 91+ DSMs.Of course its an NT ECU, but they can be fairly easily converted to turbo ECUs.Its another option if you can't find a turbo eprom ECU, and probably easier to find/cheaper than getting one out of a DSM.If anybody finds one or more and doesn't want it, I'll buy it/them at a profit to you.

Re: Mitsu Mirage
That is very interesting. I might have to make a trip out there. Any specific year or model Mirage they were made in?

It needs the knock board and a few other small things from the turbo ECUs.I have extra turbo ECU parts, so yeah, I could convert it.

Re: Mitsu Mirage
um... also, how do you tell if it is an Eprom, are all of them? Or only certain trim levels?

Open it up and look for an EPROM.It will be in the corner opposite the connector. It has 28 pins(14 on each side), is 1.5" X .5" and will have a sticker that says "E930" or something similar. They will usually have an "E" in the lower corner of the front part number label as well, but I don't know how reliable that is.

Re: Mitsu Mirage
They sell for around $30 on ebay. I talked to Tom Dorris about these a while back, he also said they weren't too hard to convert.

Re: Mitsu Mirage
I would guess these ECUs were available in 89-92 Mirages... the same years that they were equipped with 4G15 and optional 4G61T motors (easily swappable with the 4G63)

Re: Mitsu Mirage
It appeared to be newer then a 92 very rounded body style.
If anyone plans on going to rosemount for any wiring harnesses dont bother, Eric cleaned them out, He is the new Hort of wiring at rosemount.

Re: Mitsu Mirage
these ecus are compatible w/the 1.5 so if thats what your refering to, heres other options. Otherwise I think I'll check mine once it gets warmer out.
89-92 4G15 Mitsubishi Mirages (H/B or Sedan, only 1.5L)
89-92 4G15 Eagle Summits (H/B or Sedans)
89-92 4G15 Dodge Colts (Hatchbacks)
88?-91? 4G15 Hyundai Excels (Engine looks the same, comp is under drivers side)
Not sure if any other Hyundais work, but check em out.

The 89-90(maybe 91?) colts I've seen have distributors, so you won't find them in those years.I'm guessing 91-92+ vehicles with DIS motors.Like Joe K said, this one looked newer than 92.If anyone goes to that yard in Rosemount, you should check the date on the mirage.

I haven't been there in a while. The last time I was there though a 90 was gutted in 1 day. Iceman stumbled upon it the day it went into the lot. We corraled the "team" and headed back with more tools. A few parts taken were: 90 eprom, complete motor, tranny, t-case, all sensors, etc were taken. A good find
I may be able to get you another harness Eric. One of the cars we dumped off is still sitting there. THe 91 has most of the harness in it minus a couple of plugs for a 6 bolt in a 2g swap. My 90 only has the ecu plugs in it though. I cut the engine harness out.

I'm not even suprised.
