clicking coming from front of car

when i am driving my car down the road i can hear a ticking or sorta like a rattling coming from the front of the car. It only happens when in gear though? also i can feel it in the shifter when i am in 3rd gear. My CV boots are tore, could that be it? just making sure it isnt anything worse than that.

car is a 92 laser AWD
basic bolt ons
Thanks
Colin

Ding, Ding, Ding, you just won yourself a new set of half axels. I would replace them as soon as possible cause bad things happen if they really go. Should pnly be about 75-80 a side and don't take too long to swap. Make sure and drain your tranny before you pull them out.

I ran my Jeep for 2-3 years with a torn boot... oops. went from a a click to a god awful CRACKING noise, than my cage and inner race snapped. 3 wheel drive is fun and all but get that fixed ASAP. I only paid $60 for 1 side.

I would go with new CV joints from Raxles, not some crap non turbo (right side anyway) rebuilt ones. I have Raxles CV joints in my ride, but thay aren't cheap like $125.00 for the right side, but are stronger and will last longer. The remans are not as hard as new ones after thay regrind them. Just my two cents.

I did the same thing, only on a MUCH larger scale at Elite during the burnout contest...

I'm sure someone around here has video. I'm told by Mitsu that I broke everything from the axle (right side) to the tranny... it was bad news...

Issue was a bit more than an axle. If anyone has access to a 1g drivers side awd axle, non abs pm cudvig, he is also looking for a 23spline tranny in good condition, or a good deal on a 22spline tranny/t-case combo.
