Your 2g tranny has a mount on top of it while a 1g tranny does not. I forget the specifics but i wanted to put a 2g tranny in my 1g and i was told that it would be a PITA to make it work. Probably just re locating mounts.. but to most, that would blow.

So, being a 1g tranny doesnt have the mount, I can prolly fit it in there, pretty easily, fab up my own 'adapter' or an extended type of mount, OR, just chop it off the 2g tranny and attatch it to the 1g, or take measurements and MAKE one for the 1g tranny, and it should work?

if I get a 1g tranny and transfer case, would the drive shaft and axles be the same? I am asking all this because I see WAY more 1g AWD AUTO trannies than 2g. And I really dont wanna convert to manual....

ok... 1g tranny will not work in a 2g car without modification. there is 1 motor mount (on top) on the tranny on a 1g car and the other 3 are on the motor where as the 2g's have 3 motor mounts on the tranny ( 1 on top, 1 on front, 1 on back ) and 1 motor mount on the drivers side of the motor.

there for you will need to do some modification to make it work, anything can be done, just how much time/money/effort are you willing to put into it?

Just to let you know, it wouldn't be a good idea to put a 1G auto tranny in a 2G anyway. They 1G auto are considerably weaker than the 2G autos. The real weak point being the torque converter. Also they are a lot more sensitive to heat and will fail if heater to over 200 degrees a lot sooner than a 2G. A aftermarket tranny cooler would be a good idea if you plan to drive any auto really hard. B&M sells a good one for around 50 dollars, and you will need a tranny temp gauge also. There some other reason as well but them are the main ones.

Well, I'm keeping my eyes open for a 5 speed also, no luck with that either, I found 1 used one for 1300. Shit, for 1600 I ill ship my tranny to TeamRip and have them rebuild mine. I'm a broke brother. Ask DSMKel....I been having this car for OVER a year, and stuff just doesnt favor me with it....SO I am keeping my eyes open for ANY 2g tranny (and clutch system)
