Shift Linkage?

I was shifting tonight and when i tried to shift into 2nd it was like there was nothing there? like i could move the shifter all over and it wouldnt go into any gear. So i checked and i found out what it was. Its hard to explain, like if you follow the shifter all the way down into the consule, its at the bottom and its connected to a little O shaped eye thing. well its that cable that connects to the end of the shifter. Every time i shift i have to like retighten it, like it somehow becomes loose. Is there a way to fix this for good?

Most likely the entire shifter cable assembly will have to be replaced. Twice Cher has broken his linkage as of late and it affects what you said.

i have a set of good cables for a 91 if thast what you need

Tighten it with two 10 mm wrenches.
