My New 98 gsx build

Alright I need some suggestions on what kind of turbo to use on my new setup..
MAP stage2 shortblock
Built 2g head
Debating between a magnus/jm fab intake mani
Fuel setup for e85, thinking for injectors, fic 2150s
I currently have a new fp race manifold, My question is should I get the precision 5857 ball bearing n use the manifold, Or get a tubular and get a different turbo? Maybe a 6266?

Re: My New 98 gsx build

Tight Budget why I'm debating on a tubular(which one if I do)
Either way I need a new turbo
My power goals are kinda open right now, I guess anything past 500 i'm happy with.

But yea know if keeping that mani makes it very limited then I'll have to make it work by getting a tubular I suppose.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

meh, all the new tech makes it easier to make power.
The FP is the best mitsu flanged turbo manifold out, a 5858 should get your goal but the 6266 will do it really easy.

But if you are on a tight budget, you don't need 1/2 the stuff you listed. You could spray it.....

Re: My New 98 gsx build

What could the 5858 ball bearing with that mani get me for power?

What do you recommend for a tubular? I was looking at the map one.. Sooo nice haha but also like 1300$..

magnus or jm fab for intake?

I kinda look at it as... If i'm gonna have a built engine don't really wanna cut any corners, Want it to be legit. I know I really should get a tubular it would be worth it in the long run.. I just thought if that fp mani would work i'd use it, But thinking about it.. if I ever did switch to a tubular I'd have to get another turbo, sounds more expensive in the long run.

I'm confused you seem determined for a tubular manifold, why?

Re: My New 98 gsx build

I'd go with JMF for the intake manifold unless you're going with the cast Magnus . The regular Magnus SMIMs are garbage they crack all the time I've personally had 2 of em crack on the runner.

As far as a manifold I'd stay with the fp if your funds are low since there's plenty of mitsu flanged turbos that'll get you to your goal HP.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

Yeah.. I think I'm just gonna keep the manifold and get a 5858 or a 5857.

Or with that setup which turbo you think would be best? I'm open for suggestions

Re: My New 98 gsx build

with that much power, i'd be worried about the transmission...unless you have a built or rebuilt one already.

i'd vote the 5858 but the 6266 is the route i would go if i went that way.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

Yeah I'm thinking the jm fab drag intake and the 5858 ball bearing.

That's my next step on this build.. I still have a stock tranny, besides a act street disk clutch installed.
Since the engine/tranny are out of the car I should probably do something about that. Any suggestions? haha

Re: My New 98 gsx build

I had a OBX Racing tubular manifold on my gst made good powa and actually did it job making good torque. People had their doubts about it but she held. My take on tubular manifolds are you get what you pay for, so beware.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

500hp dynojet? Could do that fairly cheap if you just be smart about your parts and keep it simple.

Keep the FP exhaust mani, old school bolt-on SCM61 internally gated, fmic, twin 255hp's, 1600 injectors, DSMLink, stock 6 bolt motor/head, cheapest used set of used cams. 25psi and you're probably at 500+ on a dynojet.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

These are the mods that I have done already..

ETS FMIC
E16G
FP Race Manifold
Turbosmart dual port bov
FIC 950s
ss o2housing
E85 tuned(29psi)
ACT street disk clutch

I sold my exhaust, head, o2housing already, Selling the 16g also

Either way I'm putting a built 6bolt in with a built 2G head.
Probably a DW300 fuel pump.
I'm not aiming for a certain number, Whatever those new mods will give me what I'm looking for.

Can't go wrong with a Billet wheel HX35 with Mitsu hot side for a budget turbo.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

So you're not aiming for a certain number? And you want us to tell you which turbo/manifold setup to go with? A JMF Drag intake manifold on a 58mm turbo?

Re: My New 98 gsx build

Why do you need a drag mani on a 500hp car. It will probably do more bad than good.

The DW300 is not much more than the 255 so I'd go with the new walbro 450 pump. Should easily get you there.

If you have an account on tuners look up people's setups in the 400-500 range and make a parts list.

There's a million parts to get ya there, just depends on how much boost you wanna run/ and how much $$$ you wanna spend.

Re: My New 98 gsx build

How much power have you made on the 16g?

You should be able to make 400 Dynojet on that, so you are looking for 100 extra HP right?
