I have a 1997 GS-T, before I started putting on some after market parts the car would pick up and go pretty good, but then after I put the HKS cat back exhaust on it, my buddy says im getting turbo lagg. Well, I talk to Emes today, and he said that its my clutch going out... I dont doubt anyone but has anyone experince this before?

I still get this, and the exhaust is the only thing I have on when it started.

clutch, it'll start slipping in the higher gears. As the clutch gets even worse, it'll start slipping in all the gears. Change it out before u screw up your flywheel

like on a hill!!! My buddies laser was slippin so bad, he almost didn't make it up this hill coming home from another friends house. Pretty funny to watch. It actually ended up not being his clutch. We had a brand new 2600 in there and it slipped. Once we swapped in his new gvr4 tranny and xfr case, it went away. I'm guessin his xfr case was on its way out and getting close to locking up or sumthin, and that's what the problem was all along

Either the ACT 2100 or ACT 2600 would be my recommendation. You'd have to check with Elite on how much they charge.

2100 is I think a waste of time if your going to upgrade anything int he future. Go with the 2600.

It's not a waste if you don't plan on going that big with your plans.

Anyone ever used that new one that AMS offers now? It's a tad bit cheaper then the 2600, and doesn't have the heavy pedal. Made outta some ferametalic material or sumthin. I've heard of a lot of people who are happy with them. I don't know any of em personally, just read reviews. Also right now I'm running a clutch from this place in LA called Pro Clutch. Heard about em thru a socal friend. His clutches are priced real cheap, so I figured I'd try it out, and if it sucked, then oh well lesson learned, and it wasn't that much money anyways. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Had it on for about 1000 miles. It is pretty grabby though. Once it's heated up a bit, going from a stop in first is rather shakey. But i guess it really doesn't bother me too much.

I still say that there is more than just ACT as a valid choice for DSM clutches. Southbend is reasonable and I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about one. The cost is a little less than ACT and the performance is decent with pretty light pedal pressure.

I agree totally. I tend to take the path less traveled. And I guess I never jumped on the ACT bandwagon. I used a SPEC in my eclipse. You should check them out too. I was real happy with mine.

not to be a hater but i recently got the 2600 in my laser and i love it!!! as for the pedal pressure i think you should slide another tampon in.... (haha j/k) cuz i don't think it is really all that bad, go push some weights before you get your new clutch!

elite charged me 800 for clutch and install on a awd laser w/ an ACT 2600

there's 3 guys here with act 2600's. They love them too, but all 3 sat in my car and were amazed at how stock my pedal felt. I guess once you have it a little bit, you get used to it, just like any clutch. I just prefer not to have a heavy pedal. I drive one of theirs and just don't like it, plus the fact 2 of the 3 have broken their clutch pedal assemblies because of the added stress. I just chose something else, you're free to chose what u like.

ok so i know im new to the whole clutch/ manual game.. but from some of the reading ive done i was under the impression that the clutch wasnt what determined the stiffness of the pedal. I thought it was the pressure plate? Or do they come in one unit or something?

that's all part of the clutch. When you buy a clutch, u get a pressure plate, the disc, and a new throw out bearing

I am running an Exedy 1900lb kit. I like it so far (3250 miles), but I don't know how long it will last at my power level (Soild 13's). Pedal pressure is higher than expected but not to the level of the 2600 I don't think. For what I paid (E-bay) I don't really care how long it lasts.

Cheap, and alot of 0g guys use them...good reviews from them it seems.
