Backstory: I used to own a 98 gsx and since I've sold it, I have never really had that feeling where I just enjoy driving around. I bought a 98 subaru 2.5rs and I loved that thing because it was a great summer/winter car. The thing handled like a champ but lacked in the power department. The subaru blew up on me when I was drivin to my first ice rallycross this past winter. Since then, it's just been sitting on my driveways with the motor/tranny in my attic. I've been looking for a replacement motor, but they are pretty hard to come by since I need the 2.5dohc. Well, I got a sweet internship so I had to breakdown and buy another car to get to work. So I dropped a few bucks and bought a 1990 honda dx hatch. It's been great to rip on and gets from point a to b with no problems.
Anyways, my roommate told me about this 1991 Galant vr4 for sale here in town and we went to check it out today. The guy is asking $1000 for it, but it sounds like he's pretty open to offers since he's getting a new car and doesn't have much need for it anymore. There's about 230,000 on the car, hg and timing belt done about 50,000 ago. The thing started up like a champ and seemed to idle just fine. Only bad things that I could see was the interior was a little rough, the e-brake was unhooked, the hood and fenders are fairly dented up from his buddies daughter who rear ended a truck a few years ago. He said the car drives smooth and it's been pretty reliable for him in the past. He also said he gets between 10-20 mpg depending on how he drives. That seems like quite the range to me, and honestly I kinda like my honda getting upper 20's easy. So, help me out guys. Should I stick with my crappy honda until I can fix and sell the subaru, then buy something nicer? Or should I ditch the honda and suby and pick up this vr4 till I'm outa school? lmk what you guys think.
Here's a few pics because, well...pics are fun.
