Project: DANGER Ranger!!!
That's right, picked up this gem within a couple of weeks of getting home in may.
153k miles. 2.3 4 cyl, 8 spark plugs, 2wd.
After tune up 25-26 mpg with tonneau cover.
That's right its gold and a '89 - gotta love the 80s:
I don't know if it does 85mph.
Shits clean, and gets approved by the other B-man.
That's it for now. I'll snap a pic with the tonneau cover i got, and I'm gonna see if these extra set of DSM wheels will fit.
The bolt pattern is the same I just have to see if the center bore is.

Sucker is clean for its age for sure. I think you should put in a Ford 9". 2.3L that would spool a 16g like SNAP!!

I didn't even think about that, but I should get something and some window tint, it sucks being in that glass box of a cab.

Re: Project: DANGER Ranger!!!
lol, very nice.
So, these rangers come with a sweet trans that tends to leak, in my attempt to fix the leak I have ended day 1 with a ranger in pieces, O'reillys had a rear output shaft seal, but the shaft diameter was way bigger than stock and even the guy at the counter said he thought it would leak, napa didn't list a part, north country ford said one didn't exist anymore, the first person i called and talked to at Apple Valley Ford said it would be tuesday, I called them back a few hours later and they will get me one tomorrow for under $20.
I grabbed some small metal freeze plugs to put in the trans, there are 3 rubber plugs on teh top of the trans right below the shifter that tend to leak, if they are the right size, i'll punch in the new plugs, if they aren't I'll probably RTV the old ones as I have been told that works well, but the metal plugs are the end all fix.
Pics maybe tomorrow, its getting cold out time to fire up whats left of my little torpedo heater.
I talked to the local harley store and they have some 4'x6' boxes about 1" thick they will let me have to lay on my garage floor, guy said it was a neat idea and just said let them know when I get there and I can have what I want.

Re: Project: DANGER Ranger!!!
I think this ranger will be for sale in the next year or so, I'm just gonna keep it clean.
I figured by the time I did all this swap crap to it I could probably finish my DSM and get a nice death trap/econo box to daily.
Plan: drive ranger for 1-2 yrs, hopefully have money, but death trap & full size pickup for when I need to do work, live happily ever after and buy more crap.

Re: Project: DANGER Ranger!!!
SO its looks like I will be selling the danger ranger and getting a civic of some kind because I will be travelling a lot more for work and I'll need something better on gas (35-40 mpg range) compared to the 25-26mpg, plus I dont do too much in the winter.
