DSM Dune Buggy Project

Saw this on jalponik.com

here is the full build thread...
http://www.locostusa.com/forums/view...hp?f=36&t=9681

The Widow Maker

Don emailed me his crazy build way back in June last year and I remember looking at the first page and getting an instant view of how ridiculous it was, which is a good thing. Those of you with a keen eye would have seen a teaser of this build in my Speedhunters guest-posts last month, so here it is in its entirity.
The Widow Maker is a first-generation 1991 Eagle Talon, or what’s left of it anyway. With a stroked 2.3 4G63 motor and a whole lot less bodywork, it certainly puts a new spin on open-top driving.

Re: DSM Dune Buggy Project

Cool idea and alot of work! but why would you make it so the timing belt is exposed? lol The whole front end and engine is going to fill up with sand and die if they leave the front open for cooling?

In the build thread he has pics of the fiberglass front and panels he is building for it. It's an ongoing project.
Page 6 has the most current pics.

Yea I saw that as well. Still not sure how thats going to work, since off road dune buggies usually nose dive into sand. Intercooler full of sand as well?

Typically engines are in the rear I think.

Re: DSM Dune Buggy Project

Not to mention the totally exposed oil filter and pretty low ground clearance for a dune buggy. I don't see this thing being very off-road capable.
