I said i wasnt going to get another dsm for a while........ well i stumbled on a great deal my buddy wanted to sell his 2g awd for cheap and ive been working on this car for the last 3 years and basically helped do 90% of the mods too it, it has a few small issues though. long story short i got a great car for a good price and couldnt be happier i only got one pic of it right now but its got quite a few mods.......
evo3 16g
aftermarket licp
aftermarket uicp
1g bov
1g throttle body
magnus smim
pacesetter header
Ebay 3" down pipe
3 inch Homemade exhaust to ebay carbon muffler

2GB Talon bumper ( waiting for summer )
Projector halo headlights
ebay short shifter
Act 2100- ( XTD stage 4, 6 puck unsprung now)
fidanza flywheel
Magnus Fuel rail
Fuel lab fpr
-8an filter to rail / rail to fpr Stainless braided lines

Now For The small issues....
Tires are bald
bumpers busted
insane clear coat fade
Cracked intake ( right behind the weld on the #1 runner) Im a welder so thats first to get fixed lol.
and small exhaust leak where o2 housing meets downpipe.

ill up date this with pics as things get fixed but being as im on house arrest till the 17th there probably wont be much happening the next 10 days but after that it will be a mad dash for the cookout and i hope to get dsm link installed and some fic 1350s and get tuned on e85 this year yet.

heres the crappy pic ( looks tiny next too my truck lol)

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

alright well yesterday was a busy day got alot accomplished, i pulled the intake and uicp friday night

I found out there was also a crack in runners 3 and 2 also, and some gritty oily residue on the back of the plenum....
if u can see the edge of the weld look at the really dark spot thats all cracked of course i forgot too take a picture of it after i cleaned all the jb weld off.

heres runner two small crack

Runner three crack

So i welded all of that up at work yesterday (forgot pics) , then me n my buddy got to work on the car, i repainted/rewelded some pinholes in the weld on the uicp, Painted my Valve cover, installed my polished stainless plug wire cover, did a full emissions removal, relocated the battery to the hatch, re installed the SMIM, and relocated some other stuff.
All in all it was a really hot long day but heres some pics even though they suck cause it was getting dark on me.

So ya plans for the cook out are.....
Bumper, Shave toenail spoiler, fix small exhaust leak where hanger ripped off, and hopefully tires.

thanks for looking,
Tom

Having trouble with the shifter cable bracket on the trans staying tight tried locktite and it still came loose gunna look at it closer, also messed with an extension rod aswell this car wont shift for the life of me.

so thats about it for now still trying to locate a 2g bumper locally, then i can maybe make one of the wed meets if nothing else ill drive down without the bumper cover although its embarassing lol.

The 2gb Talon rear spoiler is pretty easy to put on as well. I think I drilled two holes if I remember right.

^^^^ Ya i looked into that as an option but i couldnt find one at the time so i sealed up all the holes for the spoiler in the hatch as well as the one for the wiper.

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

I suppose im about due for an update, the car has been performing very well actually just been fixing things here and there.

The rear wheel bearing was making a good amount of noise so i decided to replace it who knew what a task that would become

little bit of heat and the axle came right out haha but then i looked at the tire i took off the drivers side because i put new pads on the rear brakes at the same time and saw this,

The cap seperated from the sidewall on the inside of the tire that was all in all not that good of a day lol.

Then on saturday out enjoying the snow it appeared as if my clutch was slipping, which i looked closer and rememberd this sound all too well, the front axle seperated once again, mind you this axle has like 500 miles on it because the one that was on the car when i bought it did the same thing.

So i figured if they want 65 for the reman which includes like a 70 dollar core id buy the brand new one instead for a whopping 75 bucks

All in all the axle job went well on the front.

I then turned my attention to the exhaust I only have two pics of where it rusted off in the back, it was also like swiss cheese around the O2 sensor so i rebuilt it with new pipe and welded a new bung in, damn 10 year old buschur racing exhaust and rusting itself away haha.

thats about all i have for an update for now, I plan on possibly getting new motor mounts or using a writeup for DIY Poly mounts on dsmtalk, also a FMIC, and some new ball joints and suspension bushings along with an alignment.
Thx for looking

Tom

Looks like you're making pretty good progress as of late. Good choice on the 2gb talon front, they're prob my favorite combo when it comes to 2g's(2gb talon front on a 2ga talon body).

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

well i have some more carnage/ upgrade pics

apparently the 2g accelerator pedal arm is made of fuckin plastic.

i used a strip of aluminum to brace it on the back and some hose clamps and got it back together for now, but forgot to take pics of it was too frusturated.

I also finally got around to installing my -8an filter to rail line, magnus fuel rail, and -8an to Fuel Lab Fpr.
The first three pics are from when i first got it and then some of the remodeled engine bay, with the rail and fpr installed.

Also since the last time i updated i cleaned out my intercooler and piping and fixed a small boost leak. (dont mind my gear oil bottle catch can, i had it vented but it is now sealed works awesome as well.

These are last ones are before the fuel rail was installed.

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

Forgot to add, i got a pair of new WestLake SV308 tires mounted at National Tire n Battery in chaska yester day 225/45/17 $163.37 out the door not too bad, now for the bad, my rear toe is way way off on the drivers rear and passenger rear.
I tried to adjust it last night before the snow but the adjusters move very little so i sprayed the shit out of em with jb-80 and will probably take it in to get aligned on monday just the rear though.

I got 4x new tires installed in late july and the rear two were bald with wires sticking out and cords showing all the way across when i got the new ones put on last night, but the front two look like new, so the overall diameter of all 4 wheels is plenty close again for the sake of the center diff.

Plans are to re wire the fuel pump asap to see if it solves this lean condition I've been seeing as of late.

I Have good air fuel ratios via monitoring my o2 voltage, thru all of 1st and 2nd gear, but when i shift to third it just goes lean instantly, but if i let off for about ten seconds and put it back down itll be fine all the way through 3rd.

If some one has some ideas on the lean condition thatd be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the novel i should update more frequently.

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

The dsm gods strike down on me once again.......

Two weekends ago the car started overheating which was odd to me then i realized that the fan wasnt kicking on checked it out and , I had my fan bolt back out and the fan blade was just sitting in the shroud not attached, so i go to my buddies take it out since i was aways from my place and smashed my hand like 3x trying to get the bolt out on the bottom got pissed and punched the windsheild.

The night didnt end there though, so i get the fan off and repaired and proceed to head home for the evening and the alignment got the best of me, when going from a slick to a dry spot the rear end jerks all over the place and i lost control and met the ditch at like 45, the car at this point had started to over heat and reeked like coolant. Got pulled out and notice the entire exhaust is laying in the ditch in like 4x pieces threw em in my buddys truck n i was on my way once again. I made it all of a mile and the clutch started to slip then the car wouldnt move at all said fuck it and towed it home. ended up getting it apart last weekend.

Upon disassembly i realized the fan motor was shorted out or something stupid it got so hot it melted the blades off of the motor and melted its self out of the shroud.

so i got the radiator out and its cracked figured thats where the coolant went, nope one of the coolant lines for the turbo burst.
heres a couple pics of disassembly.

and then it was out.....

heres a pic of whats left of my exhaust.

Got the pressure plate and clutch off
heres a massive crack in the pressure plate kinda hard to see though

heres the clutch with no friction material left

and a couple bolts decided to come out of the friction surface on the fidanza and Mar the piss out of the back of it, im undecided on whether or not ill run this Flywheel again because of the damage and all the friction surface screws were loose as were the starter ring gear retaining bolts.

and the kick in the nuts, leaking rear main seal

so massive amounts of destruction so far new parts listed in next post

At least you found the leaking rear main seal now, when it's nice and easy to replace. Also, I just noticed the go kart in your pics. I have a single seater that has a 9hp motor for now, but will be getting a 440cc snowmobile engine come spring.

Re: 95 Tsi Awd PPPPPProject

I have been slacking on fixing this thing due too lack of funds with christmas and the ol' ladys B-Day, but some of the stuff that was ordered showed up so with out further a dew heres a couple pics of the new stuff that has arrived.

XTD stage 4 UNSPRUNG 6 puck clutch kit ( pressure plate not pictured ) Just ordered it because there seems to be good reviews about it amongst alot of 3/s ers and DSMERs as well. Figured for the price it was worth a try.

I know most say unsprung is not for daily driving but i had the XTD stage 3 6 puck sprung clutch in my old civic, and even with that torqueless wonder it drove like a stock clutch and held the 250 FWHP no problem.
So hopefully this thing isnt too bad being that i dont deal with any stop n go traffic or do much city driving.

My front motor mount was sagging pretty bad like most 2g's, and being that I'm a welder I took the cheap way out, its not pretty due since there wasn't alot of time spent on it. I had though about getting another set of stock mounts and doing this with polished stainless just for shits n giggles.

I was going to do the rear one but I haven't a Clue how bad It would be vibration wise and annoying wise for a daily driver? If any one has any input on this it'd be greatly appreciated, so I can weld up the rear one if its not gunna be too bad before the trans goes back in.

And last but not least I was planning on Fabbing my own 3" Exhaust at the time I was going apeshit ordering stuff so I ended up purchasing this EBAY 3" inlet Carbon Fiber canister muffler, it says its real carbon fiber wrapped and it appears to be the quality appears to be alright, although on the one my buddy ordered the whole perforated inner portion basically fell out within 5000 miles.

Just figured if I do end up fabbing my exhaust it'll Hopefully Look alright and sound decent I was thinking of running a glass pack/resonator to mellow out the sound due to the mufflers lack of length.
