Calling computer/networking nerds.
Alright I am having issues with my PS3 Internet. Little info:
Ps3 hardwired
Linksys wireless router
Comcast business class service (static ip)
From modem to router to ps3
Game- call of duty modern warfare (yes the first one)
Go to play online and kicks me off after 15 sec. Saying network timed out.
Ive tried port forwarding but nothing
Anyone have any tricks or any info? I want to get the new cod but it's pointless if I can't play online.

It might be the playstation network its pretty glitchy. Can you use the internet browser in the PS3?

Same result over the built-in wireless?

Re: Calling computer/networking nerds.
I remember, I could not connect to Xbox Live with my xbox at your house, either. I doubt its a PS3 network issue.

Re: Calling computer/networking nerds.
Get the latest firmware on your WRT54G. Look at the bottom of it and it should say 'WRT54G v6" .....or v2.2 or v9 or whatever. That take that version number and go to linksys.com, download firmware to your computer, log into the web interface of the router (usually http://192.168.0.1). Take note of your settings on the WAN and wireless pages (taking screenshots is a quick/easy way to do this), and then go to the far tab on the right: admin. Upload the firmware, the router will restart and *hopefully* keep your network settings. If not, you have all the screenshots of your previous settings.
Do this all from your computer to your router with a hard cable if possible, otherwise when it reboots it may default to the wifi network 'Linksys'. Make sure you set up at least WEP but preferably WPA or WPA2 security.
Now make sure you can connect to the internet from your computer, then might need to reboot the PS3 and then test it out. Good luck!

Google, Call of duty Modern warfare Firewall ports.
There is about 5 ports that need to be opened on your router. Very common problem with call of duty. I dont think the new COD versions had these issues.

Re: Calling computer/networking nerds.
Can you do speed and latency tests to see if they're decent and consistent?

Re: Calling computer/networking nerds.
You need more gigglebits and bigger megahurts. Try reinstalling your winsocks as well.

Yeah, taking them off and putting them back on generally fixes the issue. Are they standard white or do they have stripes?

I already tried that. I have like 7 of them open. I also did it on the modem as well(the comcast guy told me to try that). When I get home tonight I am going to try updating the firmware.
