iPhone Apps/software versions. 3GS
I am running version 3.0.1 (7a400) - I don't really know what that means.
But I don't have the newest version 4.0 which stops me from getting a few apps, but right now I have unlocked tethering and I don't really want to lose that.
Are there any jailbreaks for the newest version?
Apps I use the most are billminder, shopsavvy (scans items and lets you know if you can get it cheaper elsewhere even online), craigspro when I'm bored, pandora radio when I'm in the garage, FB, amazon, shazam.
Any recommended apps?

+1 for angry birds.
Glass box is good to for games.
Otherwise 5-0 radio is an awesome free police scanner.

Re: iPhone Apps/software versions. 3GS
afaik once the phone is jailbroken then it can do whatever you want.
I got burned when I upgraded because there's currently no way to activate if you aren't an AT&T customer. I switched to AT&T since being with Tmobile on the iPhone was a hassle anyway.
ios4 runs like crap on a 3G but you should be fine with a 3GS.

You'll lost the teathering if you switch to 4.0. But, the mms will stay thats been part of a update I think since 3.1.4 or something.

This shit is cool...turns your phone into a wifi AP for $20. I'll get that when I upgrade my phone to a 4.

It specifically says that it works with ios4, which was your question.
What add-on turns your phone into a wifi hotspot? I've heard of USB tethering with a hack but not the wifi part.

Re: iPhone Apps/software versions. 3GS
^My apologies I didn't see teh part of being a wifi hotspot.
You can, i dont know if this makes a diff to you but use tethering via bluetooth also so it would be kinda like wifi if your comp and car stereo had bluetooth.
Either way I'm happy its time to see what V4 is all about.

just get a cigarette lighter/usb adaptor and use an apple cable. Works excellent.

^Just got one from ultimate with a lifetime warranty, $20.
Actually with this new software the battery seems to last longer.

It's "supposed to" be more resourceful and what not. Pair that with an iPhone 4 and the battery life is awesome.
