Re: If I had a $1,000
That looks like a steal. Throw in a different engine and let 'er buck.

Re: If I had a $1,000
Yea, it was listed at like $3000 like 6 months ago, and then the motor must have gotten messed up and now it's at that price. Makes me think it's kinda jankety, that person had like 3-4 dsm's for sale at one time.

Re: If I had a $1,000
yeah I question how it was maintained. But you have to ask yourself that question with any car like this.
If someone has $1,250 they could buy iceminions motor, throw that biatch in there and have a running DSM. Looks like the body is in good shape...At least from what you can see.

Re: If I had a $1,000
isnt that a 1991 or 1990? He has it listed as a 1992 but it has the flip ups.

Yeah, if it was actually a 92, I'd probably buy it.

Re: If I had a $1,000
yeah it was clean the pictures are different from the actual car
i have an idea why it blew up they pulled the waste gate rod out and put a spring holding the flapper shut so it was boosting to what ever it was.
its a 90 its missing a few things radio all the gages in the pics are gone and the engine is locked up

Re: If I had a $1,000
yeah its clean but its going to need some help. I got him down a little bit on the price id still like to know who was inside the trans there is fresh rtv Grey around the case. This car is for my girl shes swapping her good engine in ,and we will see how that goes because her laser is needing some help. Her brakes and trans are on there last leg trans grinds in every gear the ecu acts funny
all the usual dsm bull ... yeah the guy is a 35 yr old with 2 kids was surprised that he dident know much about these cars being that he owns 2 of them
i have learned alot about these cars in a short time 1. dont allways count on what people say about the 4g63 there only bullet proof if you are carefull and do the maintenance and take your shit to db to get it tuned or you will be like me and blow up 3 engines
2.never do anything half ass or pay more later .
3. read the dam forums vfaq and find your answer
4.you get what you pay for

Re: If I had a $1,000
The dude said it's a 91. Last I talked to him a few weeks ago, he said $900 was the absolute lowest, not low enough for me to want to rebuild a motor and have a practically stock dsm.

Re: If I had a $1,000
So is the chassis decent then? I may have my awd donor after all...

Not to downplay getting a real tune, but these engines are pretty easy to please compared to most other engines, computer controlled ignition timing making them pretty resilient to improper timing or fuel delivery, I have yet to get a dyno tune and blow up an engine from it.

I know, thats what I'm looking to avoid. I meant a chassis for me to drop the 6bolt in my FWD into as a donor.

Sticking to FWD..interesting decision. I've ridden with you, I know how you drive. I'd say AWD..lol
