93 head on a 6 bolt block ?
Im in the middle of reconditioning a 1993 7 bolt head and im planning on mating it to my 6 bolt block. Ive read that the stud holes have to be brought out 1mm to fit it correctly..and I will be using ARPs. The guys who have done this: Did you send it off to the machine shop to have them enlarged?..Or is this something I can do on my drill press? Ive searched but I need a thorough explaination on how to go about this... Solid input would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: 93 head on a 6 bolt block ?
This is actually very easy to do! I have it done on my galant.
All I did was use a 1/2 inch drill bit and drill the holes out just a tad.
It doesnt need to be an exact science because the alignment dowels in the block align the head and are considerably larger then 1/2 inch!
Good luck!

That's how I did it also. Just drilled the holes out with a 1/2" drill bit.

But now you cant use a 6 bolt head anymore unless you drill that out too...

Re: 93 head on a 6 bolt block ?
Say what?
A 6-bolt block utilizes 12mm studs. A 7-bolt block utilizes 11mm studs. Because of that, you need to enlarge the holes on a 2G Head if you put it on a 6-bolt block, as the holes are smaller, to clear the 1mm larger studs. A 6-bolt head already has the larger holes, so no enlarging is needed.

You can even put a 6 bolt head on a 7 bolt block. It gets lined up with the guide sleaves on the corners of the block. The only one that you need to do any modification for is if its a 6 bolt block with 7 bolt head.
