Boost at idle?!

My friend just picked up a POS 2g GST from way the fuck up north MN recently. Now it's starting to boost all by itself at idle and then dies. I don't have a clue what would cause this, nor I have I ever seen this on any turbo'ed car. JW if anyone has and ideas as to what it could be. My guess is MAP sensor, showing load, car boosting, realizing its in park (it's an auto) and shutting off. Shoot some ideas please!

Re: Boost at idle?!

What makes you think it's making boost at idle? In reality it is impossible for our cars to make boost at idle on the stock turbo.

Re: Boost at idle?!

im actually just going off what he says, i dont really think its making boost at idle. It starts up and then rpms begin to go up and then starts building boost and dies.

Re: Boost at idle?!

RPM going up at idle sounds like a vacuum leak.

I think you need to get more info about the problem from your friend.

Re: Boost at idle?!

It can't make boost in neutral even if the engine revs up.

Re: Boost at idle?!

Sorry about tha vagueness guys. Yea, neither of the people I was helping out knew what to do or how to describe the problem (I honestly don't know how they thought it would build boost at idle) , so I just went over and looked at it for a bit, and it was a vacuum problem making it idle higher/shittier and die. Solved, now the POS runs right.
