another person in nedd of a air compressor
I have a compressor but it is to small and does not have enough power, 1.5horse 2gallon. I really just need to use a bigger compressor for a few hours to port my manifold and o2 housing. I have a die grinder and the bits necessary, just not a compressor. If there is anyone who would loan me their compressor or come and let me use theirs for a few hours I would appreciate it. Please let me know, I would like to get my car going by saturday.
A friend just told me I could get a dremel from wal mart that would work, 10,000rmp for $50, maybe I will do that. I think sams had one for $25. what does everyone think about this idea?

I've used air compressors and RotoZips to do port work and the RotoZip worked a lot better. A RotoZip is basically a hardcore heavy-duty Dremel.

roto zip would be the best for you. If you want a compressor that will keep up to port with it will have to be a good size one. the one I have is 60gal,5hp 2 stage and it is just enuff still have to wait for it once in a while

Just some regular grinding stones from Home Depot and the local hardware store. You might have to pry the fingers on the RotoZip wider so you can fit the bits since they seem to bend it and stay that way pretty easily.

Re: another person in nedd of a air compressor
A grinding stone, you know how long that would take. I have a carbite cutting bit that works great, I can only use it in short bursts. Well I have a friend who could get me a bigger compressor by saturday evening but I really wanna get this done. I should have bought that electric industrial die grinder off ebay from china a long time ago. Well Hopefully someone will have one I can use.
I believe a friend just found me someone with a huge tank that I can use, yes!

Yup, I've done 4 turbo exhaust housings, 4 o2 housings, and 1 exhaust manifold that way.

I've always used a drill even though I have a compressor that could do the job. Those carbide bits cut just fine with a half way decent drill motor pushing them.

Re: another person in nedd of a air compressor
I have a 80 gallon 6.5hp and I even have to wait for that one if I am really going at it. Of course you aren't supposed to run the die grinder at 135psi

Re: another person in nedd of a air compressor
Those carbide bits are supposed to be going at a higher RPM than a drill could achieve...
