A running turbo DSM (about $1500)

My good friend has been looking for a DSM (first or second gen) that runs and is around the $1500 price range. He also wants it to be turbocharged.
If anybody has anything that fits this description, please let me know the details!
If it costs a little more than $1500, he might be able to work something out.

Please help me/my friend out.
Thanks

Re: A running turbo DSM (about $1500)

You should seriously consider saving your pennies.

If you buy a $1500 junk DSM, you will probably end up spending a COUPLE GRAND on fixing it up, one way or another.

I remember seeing built DSMs for sale for around $3000 with a rebuilt tranny, upgraded turbo, clutch....things that wear out

It is a GREAT time to be a buyer of a modified sports car, this depression is hurting everyone so people end up selling their cars at a huge loss

good luck!

trust me you are a lot better off saving and buying one in better shape it will pay off in the long run. I picked up mine cheap and have ended up putting 7 grand into it so far most of that is just maitenence and some performance.

Re: A running turbo DSM (about $1500)

I got mine for $1500 exactly and yes there were some oil gasket leaks and other easy to fix problems, but it's finally comming together and I havent spent that much fixing it, I have done all the repairs myself for the most part. Check ebay, thats where I found mine, and it was a turbo. The turbo was leaking oil and $60 dollars later for the rebuild kit it should be fixed.

I got mine a few years ago for $3,000 and it had a lemon of a transmission. Good luck on finding a turbo for that much, I'm sure you can, but it'd be a project car.

Yea, I did get lucky! The guy had another car listed and told me about the one I got over the phone. Search long enough and you might find something.

Mine was $100. Turbo..it ran..great deal! He found one he liked, but his dad changed his mind about letting him get one, so i guess this thread is now useless.

Re: A running turbo DSM (about $1500)

$800 isint bad for an ugly lazer. Valves arent that hard to do and it seems like a few key parts are new on it so it looks like a really good deal, you get a turbo and an intake and some other stuff ontop of the car.
I just talked to a guy at autozone in bloomington who told me he sold his for $300 on craigs list and he said it ran great, I slaped him accross the back of the head and said whats a matter with you.
