These mitsus suck you in...
So, if you want to buy a car and you have a choice between...
3000 GT (mid 90's)
Tsi AWD (mid 90's)
Priced about the same - mid $3000. Same condition, similar mileage.
Which one would you get?
I'm new to mitsus and really have no idea.
I really should be looking at a grocery getter though. Damn it! :-)

Depends on if the 3kgt is a VR4 or not.

At this point in my life, if the 3000GT was a twin turbo I would take that.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
I agree with matt d. if it's a VR4 get it, especially if it's a 94. If it's a base, got TSI all the way. They arn't fun to work on, but then again. Who here owns a 4g63 and scream yes like they've had the best sex in their life every time you have to pull your car apart to fix something?

Depends upon what you are looking for out of the vehicle. More specifications on each car would be nice.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
I don't think he's talking about a vr4. A vr4 is going to be much more expensive to a dsm if you're comparing the two.

If it is a VR4 for that price it's a gamble. If it's not a VR4, TSI with out a doubt.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
Thanks all.
No, it's not a VR4. If it was it would be quite a bit more money.
From what I read, don't get the 3000gt - harder to work on and it's the VR4.
What is the main reasons the Tsi wins over the 3000gt? Reliability? Performance?
I haven't been inside a 3000gt or a Tsi so I'll have to see if they fit me too.
I would have to say that I like the look of the 3000gt much more. So I still have that dilemma. LOL!
Whatever car I get, it will be my grocery getter. And the 3000gt looks like it will carry my bike rack better due to the config of the back.

The inside of a 3000gt and the TSi is almost exactly the same, space wise.. My friend owns a 3kgt and I own the TSi.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
if you're gunna put a bike rack on it and use it as a reliable car then get the 3000gt. You're asking a bunch of speed junkies if you should get a na v6 that's hard and expensive to work or a fi 4banger that is proven to make good power easily. Obviously, we are going to conclude the tsi is the one to get, but after hearing you say you wanna put a bike rack on it then hell just get the 3s

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
I know. I know. LOL!
I really should be buying like a Toyota Pickup or something.
I guess I'm trying to see if I can hit 2 birds with one stone - buy a car that can be my DD/winter car and be able to tinker with it also plus use it as an occasional bike carrier (weekends).
I'm actually looking at bike racks that will fit hatchies... like a Tsi. LOL! I'm heading out now to look at a Celica too.
What a problem. :-) Women and cars... have a hard time picking just one.
Thanks guys.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
Oh and yeah... my brother said get a VR4 instead.
I would get a GT-R if I could but I guess budget doesn't allow for that either.
Heading out to Eagan right now to check out a car.
Later.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
You already have one slow and heavy car (4G), why get another (non-turbo 3kGT)?
If you want fun buy a turbo DSM and stop dicking around with these other things!

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
If the TSi is awd, then it would be ok in the winter. Get a small pick-up such as a '95 Tacoma.

Re: These mitsus suck you in...
i saw a tsi once with a bike rack on he roof..... if you were to find one of those again you could get a tsi and then that style rack.... so it would be a fast winter car with a roof rack!!!! hahah
saw this on bikeforums.net "Had the same issue with a 95 Talon (same platform as Eclipse). I used a std Yakima system, took their "Universal" clips and bent them to fit. I mounted all 4 towers on the Hatch, so the Bikes were at a slight angle. I could fit 4 Bikes + Wheels on this setup, it was very solid, and I could still open the hatch. Never had a problem." - Voodoo 76
