HELP! 420A Problems!
Ok, so i ripped my motor apart this winter, and decided to rebuild it for the third time in its life, anyways the bottom end went in as normal, i used all my existing parts, except for gagskets berrings and things that needed to be replaced.
When i got to the head i did the head gasket and such, but then i decided to upgrade the camshafts (Crane #16 cams) and the cam gears (AEM tru-time adjustables), i think i installed them right, but im not %100 sure, because the only cams/gears i have ever installed were the stock ones, and i just lined up the lines to ensure that it was in time....
well anyways i finished putting the rest of the top end togeather and tried to start the car, it turned over but did not start... so i dug deeper, and found i was not getting spark, so i bought a new coil pack, i put that in today, and tried again, still wont start.... It DOES turn over, but it DOES NOT start...
im thinking that the cams are out of sync, but im not sure how to line up those cam gears so that everything runs smoothly and it will kick over....
HELP!!!

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
the cam gears should still have some marks on them for lining them up... i would double check the timing belt if your positive that the car is getting spark. also, a compression test can tell alot to.

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
Assuming your car was in for the whole winter season. Check your wires, your fuse box, down to the ground wires. Then starter + alternator. Now if they are all good, dig deeper.
Any noise in when your turn the keys in? Ticking? NONE? more info. sound?

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
Crank position sensor, and cam angle sensor. Take a volt meter and verify your getting 8 volts coming out of the ecu for your cam and crank position sensor. Then verify at the sensor your getting the same. If either one are not working you wont get spark. Also check and see if you have 12v at the middle wire on the coil pack when the key is in the run position. I thought i remembered there being problems with the marks on the tru-time cam gears, you should line up your stock gears and check that they are correct.

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
Did you check the adj cam gears compared to the stockers? They are supposedly different markings cuz they are designed for the neon.

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
compression test... it'll let you know if you are sealing up like you should. If your cams were off it wouldn't have very good compression

Re: HELP! 420A Problems!
I would check all the plugs and stuff, they could have gotten flooded since you were having both cams open at the same time
