Re: Maf-t ??
The maf's come out of just about anything with a v6, and some v8's. You will need to hack up your stock plug, and you can run it on a stock tune. But at that point, why not just stick with the stock maf?

Re: Maf-t ??
It's kinda a cool mod, I had one on all of my DSM's, but on my 1G I was maxing out the stock MAF and I did not know any better when I put it on my 2G and took out the stock MAF. I would have saved myself a few headaches by sticking with the 2G MAF. I used to recommend the MAFT to everyone and their mom, but when it comes down to it the only real reason to run one is so you can run VTA, and the only reason to do that IMHO is to have a tial bov (which I had on both cars).
Shane put this into perspective for me sort of after the fact--the money spent on this usually could have been spent elsewhere on mods that actually produce power: cams (in my case), dsmlink, IM, alky injection, etc. All would have been money better spent for me.

You do not need to hack up the stock plug. It is plug and play.

Re: Maf-t ??
Have you considered just running a 2G MAS? They work decently, and the fake maf function in dsm link works decently. Plus when V3 comes out you'll be able to run speed density. I personally won't run a GM MAF setup. I want to get more crap out of my engine bay to clean it up and simplify it, not add more boxes in there.

When I put mine in I cut off the old plug and wired the GM plug into the harness. And since the box I bought (used) didn't have the cover, I wired that into the ecu harness so that I could keep the box inside the car.

Re: Maf-t ??
That wasn't necessary (though I might be joining that crew if I don't buy some screws for my cover). The MAFT comes either listed for a 1G or 2G and with the appropriate MAF plug. If you use a 2G in a 1G or vice versa you may have to do some wiring, but if you use the appropriate MAFT it is just one plug.
I should mention that if you want to use the rpm based tuning you have to splice one wire into the Cam Angle Sensor.

Re: Maf-t ??
i had a 2g maf on my old car. it was ok.. i think the gm maf set up cleans up the engine bay and thats one thing i realy like about it. i also want to do this because of the vent to air bov, if i leave it the way it is ill have like 2ft of hose going from the bov to the intake and that will look bad.. but i have seen nothing but good things about them.

Re: Maf-t ??
I've used a maft for 3-4 years now. Never had any problems. Its nice being able to put a filter right on the turbo.

Re: Maf-t ??
Just to add my review,
I have one on my car and I wired it so it would be inside in the glove box. Its ok, no real big features. I bought it thinking that I could run bigger injectors and it would compensate for it without a problem. Only after I bought it and tried to use it I realized how worthless for tuning it really was.
However I have to say that I have blown my intercooling piping off and with the MAFT you are still able to drive it home!
If I had to do it again I would go with a 2g maf with a SAFC for better money spent
I am getting rid of the whole system and going MAP

Re: Maf-t ??
I have one my talon and it is wired driect into the ecu harness. cut off the mas plug and wired in the gm plug. did it that way because the earlyer maf-t plugs sucked ass. I did it the same way on my brothers car and helped kevin do his when I built his engine. they all work great. I also have one in the evo III it has the better new plugs so that just got pluged in and is in the engine bay and has been there for over a year have not had a problem with in there.
