Luckiest day of my life

Well my timing belt recently developed some heavy wear down the middle, so I decided it was time to get to the bottom of things.

I just got the timing cover off and look what i found

Pretty amazed, not sure what it came from yet, but man am i happy i got to this in time. Solution: thanks to jake a quick greddy belt

Damn! Good thing you did catch that right away. I don't recognize that bolt either. I did my cam's a month ago and still haven't put my cover on yet just cause I want to watch and make sure nothing fishy is going on with my belt. But of course once I actually start driving it, I will put it back on. Did everything go back together good?

Timing belt cover bolt, valve cover/upper timing cover bolt that fell, etc. Looks small! Good find though!!

Nope... Bolt from the oil pump/case cover.

At least the belt didnt snap! Now get it back together and get the shift box put in!

Well at least you caught it before anything really bad happened.

Re: Luckiest day of my life

Ya during the flood i didnt have my garage so i had to bring my car to a shop. The one damn time i dont do my own work they cant get the job right. Like jake said the bolt was an oil pump bolt that backed out, which never should have happened. I am forever done taking my car to anyone else

Re: Luckiest day of my life

I've had my t-belt off 4 times in the last 2 weeks..

1. installed 272 cams
2. thought timing was off
3. aligned back up
4. camshaft seals leaking

I'd say I'm a pro at it now. Lol. It only takes me 30 mins max to take it all apart and put it back now. I even have all the tools sitting in order just incase. It get's pretty easy once you get used to it.
