Car Alarm, any recommendations?

Long story short, I'm looking for an alarm for my car. I'm looking to spend no more then $300 maybe? I've read and researched around so I'm kind of thinking about maybe getting one with lcd screen so I'll know what's going on when something happends? Maybe also a remote starter if I have to drive the car during winter? At the moment, the car is garaged every night. I'll soon be moving out to a different location where I'll no longer have a garage and the car will be sitting out in the open parking lot exposed to careless people and drivers.

I've looked into getting the ones at Best Buy? I don't know how to install these car alarms also as I suck at electrical work so I'll probably be having them install it once I figure out which one I want or have a buddy of mine install it. Anyone got some type of recommendation?

If it is for a stick shift the only alarm with auto start that I would trust is an Compustar. Which is more that three hundred dollars. As for alarm system any of the Viper or Python series is good.

It will be hard to find a two way pager with an LCD screen installed for under $300. You can pick up a nice clifford or viper (same thing, all owned by DEI) on ebay for that much, but it'll cost a bit to have someone install it. The new top of the line ones come with turbo timer built in too.

If you know the basics of wiring, you shouldn't have a problem installing it yourself. I had never done electrical work on my car, but I knew how to use a voltmeter, etc., and it took me a full Saturday to install mine.

Compustar has the two way paging system, and they are priced decently. I was planning on getting one this last spring but it never happened.
