Question Front Cover - Castle Nut Removal/Install

Hi guys-

I bought the entire engine gasket set from Mitsu. Being that I cleaned the front cover with carb cleaner, parts cleaner and what not, I figure I better change the o-ring behind the castle nut on the front cover. I can't find much detail on this other than you're supposed to hit it counter clockwise with a hammer and flat blade to loosen it.

How do you install it though without the special Mitsu tool. The book shows a torque spec on it. Also, do you use RTV or loctite blue or anything?

Thanks for any info

Just hit it hard with a punch and hammer. Who torques things, really. HAHA. I could machine you a tool? But it'll cost you $100. Haha jk.

Maybe a local shop will be nice enough to let you bring the front cover to them and have them tighten it for you. I know QPR offered to do that for me.

I have a tool to torque that in, or use a punch/hammer.

On the hyundai motors that plug is different, and has a hex head on it so its easy to torque. If you don't feel confident with the castle plug, perhaps you should go grab the hyundai plug.
