Investment Help

So I'm looking for a little investing help....

I'd like to invest roughly $500 into a company called Trimble. They deal primarily with GPS related entities and do quite a bit of partnership work with the company I'm in internship with. I called a broker back home and he recommended E-Trade or Ameri-Trade to me since his minimum broker fees are $50 so I'd have 10% of my initial investment already tied up. Does anyone have any experience with either of the brokerage firms or have some tips for me?

Thanks!

Are they on the public market? Most smaller companies are privately held. If they are, then either of those 2 should work. My dad has used both, now uses Ameri-trade because it has better researching tools.

Trimble is a publically traded company, Nasdaq symbol TRMB.

Looks like you already know your company, so pick the cheapest online trade site. I think they're like $8/trade or less.

Re: Investment Help

Well I think I am going to check into Scottrade as they have a branch office 30 minutes away from me in Des Moines, their fees look excellent, and they were highly recommended to be by one of my professors today whom has made serious $$$$ off of the markets.

Re: Investment Help

A lot of the online brokers require a minimum account balance of $1000, try www.sharebuilder.com It is pretty much the best site for small-scale investing.

Re: Investment Help

I do recomend against individual company investing though, its fine if you have money elsewhere, but if this is your first and only investment there are much more beneficial alternatives. Email me if you want some more info.

I agree. I went down that road I was younger, and lost a few hundred dollars investing in one company.

Re: Investment Help

Does anyone have access to The Bull Market Report? I would like a copy of their report on the VeraSun Energy Corporation's(VSE) IPO from the 14th. I realize that there is a free 14 day free trial on The Bull Market website but with my luck, I'll forget to cancel my subscription at the end of the trial period and be charged $179.
