Car Rentals

Anyone know which Car Rental compant rents the new Mustangs? We are thinking of renting one over memorial day weekend when we head down to IA that Friday night & Saturday. Avis and National list GM makes and I didn't see anything for the Stang with Hertz either.

Re: Car Rentals

This is a no brainer. It's optional sometimes, but ALWAYS take the insurance when you take the rental. I've known people to get in some lousy situations when they didn't take it out. They get blamed for dings that they didn't even do.

Re: Car Rentals

They don't list them on their website either. I'm probably just gonna call a few places tomorrow and find out.

I wonder if Nash is renting out the EVO?

I like the 05/06 Old school body Styles much better than the 03/04's, but those natuarly asperated 4.6's really aren't very strong!

The REAL SHIT is coming this fall with the 500 HP Stock Blown 5.7 L in the Shelby 500, but you won't touch one for under $80k after the dealers markup <rape job>

Re: Car Rentals

Performance-modified Ford Mustang GTs RENTALS???

This looks so good that I might rent one myself!

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=22890

Ford has announced at the New York Auto Show that it is bringing back the famed Shelby GT-H "Rent-A-Racer" program this summer.

A special run of 500 performance-modified Ford Mustang GTs -- designated GT-H for "Hertz" -- will be produced by Shelby Automobiles and available at select Hertz locations to mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary program that offered car enthusiasts the unique opportunity to rent and drive a high-performance sports car.

The teams at Ford, Hertz and Shelby Automobiles have put together a pony that not only has a special look, but it can really run, too," said Shelby. "The lucky few who get to rent a GT-H will have the opportunity to enjoy a car that looks, accelerates, handles and sounds the way a high-performance Ford Mustang should."

Back in 1966, you could rent a Shelby GT 350-H for $17 a day and 17 cents a mile for gas. The times have definitely changed. What hasn't changed is the passion that's ignited whenever the name "Carroll Shelby" is paired with the iconic Mustang sports car.

"As soon as you hear that it's a Shelby, that it's a Mustang, and that it's black and gold, that's really all you need to know," said Betki.

Re: Car Rentals

Yea I just ready about that in the new Hotrod magazine. I remember reading articles about the old shelby mustangs the rental car places use to have... People would rent them out for the weekend, gut the car, weld a roll cage in it and put a racing seat in, race it at the dragstrip, come home and take the cage and seat out, then take it back to the rental place. The rental places where saying that if they had to replace the carpet or do any interior work that involved taking up the carpet, quite a few cars had weld plates it in that were grinded down from having a roll cage installed.

Talk about a lot of work for a fun weekend at the track. Gives me ideas of what we could do now!
