I've seeen the B-2 fly in person. its very quiet. I didn't enven know it was flying around till a huge shadow passed over us. It seams silent compared to normal jets.

There's quite a difference between cruising and full throttle noise. I've seen a B-1 in person that cruised by overhead and it was nothing like a fighter jet.

When I was younger I was on a tour of Fort Snelling and we could see a fighter jet taking off what had to be nearly a mile away. It was deafening even at that distance

Re: Two great videos

In Kuwait, we had a radar about 100ft off the side of the runway. We'd sit there at night and watch the planes take off right next to us. You had to have your ears covered, they are incredibly loud! I've only seen one F117 in person, because it was making an emergency landing at our airport. It was pretty quiet, but pretty much every plane is quiet when it's landing (well except the harrier, that thing is noisy as all hell).

Re: Two great videos

Why are you trying to compare two different types of engines?

How are they different? They're all turbofans.

Re: Two great videos

Not all turbofans are designed the same. There are many different designs to them.
