Overheating

Yes I made the mistake of going with a higher pressure radiator cap . I made several high speed passes and drove about 20 miles and then bam the temp needle is spiked. Right now it warms up fine no heat in the cabin, if I watch the radiator fill hole after it warms up about every 2 seconds coolant gurgles up. I've checked compression 150 across the board, clogged radiator, replaced the thermostat, pressure tested the system 16 psi for at least 20 minutes no leaks. The only thing I have left is the water pump. Is it possible for it to be bad with out showing the major signs (no play, not leaking) I don't want to tear into it if there is the slim possiblity that it is some thing else, it's not a fun job and I've recently replaced my timing belt. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

have you looked at the gasket on the cap that it is gurgling out of? If you heated the shit out of it, the gasket could be toast.

The cap is fine. I was going between a 300zx cap and my stock cap.

Why would the radiator cap make the car over heat? I would look at the thermostat first, then the mix of coolent and water.

If the cap isn't venting properly. The cap maintains the pressure for the system, if you make it higher it increases the boiling point which in turn lowers running temps. I have replaced the thermostat.
