You can't use leaded fuel at all if you have a catalytic converter. The lead will slowly hurt your O2 sensor, but if your O2 sensor is in ok shape it should still last you a couple years with often summer weekend use of the leaded fuel. You might have to replace your O2 sensor every couple years if you use leaded a lot, but thats just a cost of racing. Fouling plugs is another small problem, but we usually bring some with to the track or dyno and put them in before even wasting a run on the leaded fuel.
The 5 gallon ones are probably going to be a bit too expensive to justify getting them. I need to find out the current pricing for the fuels this year, but it is cheaper in larger quantities. You can usually get 5 gallons from our drum at Elite cheaper than buying one that small for yourself.
