Flywheel Questions with pics! PLEASE HELP!

Ok so I've been chasing this damn vibration for a year now. Finally decided to rip the tranny back out after the balance shaft elimination didn't fix anything. So I get the tranny out and rip the flywheel off, and I notice som marks on the side of it (1st pic). Then I notice its making marks in my FWD trannys bellhousing (2nd pic). weird I think, since I think this is the flywheel that I bolted from the engine and brought to the machine shop. Then I compare the FWD 7 bolt Fidanza Flywheel I just picked up from V8Killa, and I notice the weights or mounting surfaces stick out to the edge of the ring gear on my steel flywheel (3rd Pic) and on the aluminum one they don't go to the edge (4th pic). I'm pretty sure the aluminum one won't rub. But whats hapening here? did the shop give me back the wrong flywheel? Is something in the motor fucked? Someone please help, I'm sorry for the shitty pics, I only had my phone with me.

Were the dowel pins in the tranny? Maybe the tranny was shifting some?

Yep, I'm doing some research trying to find pics of a FWD Flywheel and an AWD Flywheel, so far I'm think I might have gotten a AWD flywheel back from my machine shop.

Look at the differences in those 2 flywheels in the auction, The mounting sufaces for the pressure plate look different, kinda like my 2 flywheels look different. the ring gear is hidden behind the mounting surface on the AWD and it is visible on the FWD. I think I must have gotten the wrong flywheel, but it seems almost impossible since I brought it to Pepboys to have it turned, what was the chance they had an AWD flywheel there at the same time, unless they ruined mine and tried to replace it with one from a junkyard. I sure hope putting in this aluminum one fixes it.

The AWD Flywheel is actually smaller in diameter by roughly 1/2" than a FWD Flywheel. An FWD flywheel wont fit into the bell housing on an AWD tranny. If you put an AWD flywheel into FWD tranny the starter will not reach it so it wont be able to turn the motor over.

Is it possible to mount the flywheel off center? is there supposed to be a dowel to line up the crank and flywheel?

Re: Flywheel Questions with pics! PLEASE HELP!

Well, I just put the trans back in with a Fidanza flywheel in place of the factory 7 bolt steel one, And it runs smooth as glass, I don't know what the problem was, but it must have been improper flywheel installation or something wrong with the flywheel itself. Anyways I am SO happy to finally have fixed this thing. I've been working on it on and off for almost a year! I'd throw parts at it, and then get discouraged and let it sit, and pick it back up a couple months later!

Now I might have to call up Jet for my cat-back!
