Please help! RPM won't go over 2200.

Hey guys and gals. i just finished rebuilding the bottom end of my motor and removing the balancer shafts. when i put the motor back in the car it wont run over 2200 rpms and it runs really rough at idle. i have tried almost everything i can think of. i ran mmcd and it said i had a bad mas so i replaced it. Nothing changed! If you guys know of anything that would cause this please help!

This is what i have into my car.
TMO EPROM ECU
FMIC
Apexi SAFC
2g MAS
balancer shaft block off kit
RC 550 injectors
walbro fuel pump
boost controller
AEM true time cam gears
Je pistons and rings and bearings
egr block out plate
ACT clutch
WEB cams street grind
head is ported polished 5 angle grind decked and dipped
and lots of other stuff i cant think of right now

PLEASE HELP IM STUMPED!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Plug wires on right? Timing belt on right? Cams will make it idle rough, but it should rev.

Sounds like your timing belt is off a little.

What do you mean it wont run above 2200? Does it die or just miss/buck like hell?

TSISLEEPA 12-03-2004 08:23 PM

no its almost like hitting a rev limiter and it barely idles

TSISLEEPA 12-03-2004 08:26 PM

i doubble and triple checked all the timing and connections also

Shane@DBPerformance 12-03-2004 08:32 PM

What does the hz say on the datalogger and afc when it is idling?

1QUICK4 12-03-2004 08:33 PM

Maybe there is a malfuntion with the TMO ECU's Stuttrbox/rev limiter?

Did you run the modded ECU before you built this motor or is it new aswell?

TSISLEEPA 12-03-2004 08:36 PM

i ran the tmo ecu before the rebuild . i will check the afc numbers

TSISLEEPA 12-03-2004 08:46 PM

i am having a really hard time starting the talon right now i put the charger in it mebe it will start in the morning. if its the ecu can i fix that or do i need a new one

This doesn't happen very often, but it sounds like it may be the analog ground inside the ECU.Unplug the ECU, take a multimeter and test for continuity between pins 24 and 106, then check between pins 17 and 106.Lie I said, this is a long shot, but this is pretty much exactly what happens when the analog ground fries in the ECU.Other than that, it could be the old DSM capacitor problem, bad caps will have a different effects/symptoms on nearly every ECU.

I'm thinking ECU as well. Try unplugging your stutterbox clutch wire if you have it hooked up.

1g or 2g? If it is a 2g, check to make sure the MAS plug is connected all the way. We had the same symptoms on James' 2g.

EDIT: looking at your mods again, I am guessing it is a 1g. Check the plug anyhow.
