Dyno Videos
I tuned a couple cars for the NASA event at BIR this weekend. The Evo is an absolute blast to drive. Sorry about the sound.

Is that Lee's Evo? |
Re: Dyno Videos
Nice Evo!
|
Re: Dyno Videos
Yea, that is Lee's. They make what they need to for their classes. The Evo owner has been running the car at wastegate spring the last few events, if I turn the boost controller on, it makes more than all the cars at the dyno day and it's still safe for road race. You can't run a road race car nearly as aggressive as a street or drag car, since it's constantly being beat on for long periods of time. It sees over 160mph on some of the road courses.

Re: Dyno Videos
I oogled that Evo every time I was at the shop this winter. If only I had deeper pockets...

Re: Dyno Videos
LOL, that's about 6800-7000rpm in 5th gear in an evo8 with standard gearing. I've only seen 6500 :)
|
Re: Dyno Videos
Yep, he has had it at 7000RPMs in 5th.
|
Re: Dyno Videos
That is one of my favorite Evos. The owner is a really nice guy too.
That car has to be a totally different animal on the track now compared to his last setup. |
Re: Dyno Videos
I saw both of those cars at BIR last weekend. I am sure the evo could do 160 on the long course as the straight is about a mile long. Never got a chance to meet the driver since he would leave the pit area after every run on the track. Both are nice cars though.
Anyone know what size turob the evo is running? I don't need to know the exact one, but he must be sacrificing some lag for the power he is making. |
Re: Dyno Videos
It's a Evo 9 frame bolt-on turbo. FP Black. Spools decent, torque is in the 400s, pretty much no lag if you are at mid RPMs in 3rd-5th, but it's not like a stock turbo that spools at idle. It's a ported stock exhaust manifold, stock intake manifold, stock BOV, Kelford 272s, factory ECU running speed density, Buschur bored stock TB, 1350cc, 7800RPM revlimiter, push style Exedy twin disc.

Re: Dyno Videos
Solid setup!
What all is done to the Camaro? American Iron (AI) would be a fun class to race in. |
Re: Dyno Videos
It's caged, totally stripped, GMPP crate motor, exhaust, headers and a stock airbox/stock filter with restrictors we put in to get the power down to class specs. Car was 38xx lbs to start with and they have it down to the 31xx lbs now.

Re: Dyno Videos
3100lbs is light as hell for a 5th gen Camaro
|
Re: Dyno Videos
holy crap on the camaro, sounds like that 9 has an awesome solid setup.

Re: Dyno Videos
Saw that Evo when I dropped my car off last weekend. The owner has great taste in aero add-ons. ;)
