Project AWD Spyder update

I have a 1997 spyder coverted to AWD as you may have seen from my last project thread. As of fall I had the following done to the car. I am also running E85.

Eagle Wiseco built 2.0
Dejon SMIM
20g td06h turbo w/external on o2
built head with crower 414 cams and dual valvesprings/titanium retainers
dsmlink
1600 injectors
walbro 255 rewired
2600 act clutch
light weight flywheel
full 3" hahn racecraft exaust and downpipe w/ no cat
Large short route intercooler w/2.5 piping
Midified 1g bov

I have now decided to upgrade a few things and here is a list of what I have bought so far.

External oil cooler
an ss braided oil return line
4 spyder center diff
aem fuel rail
large AEM filter for custom cold air intake
gm maf and translator
titan copper head gasket
PTE SCM6152 turbo internally gated

Also soon to come thanks to JET will be some custom intercooler piping as well.

A few things that I am unsure of exactly what I want to do are a SMIM, I dont know what brand to do yet. Also will be a custom fuel pump setup but I am thinking my rewired 255 might be enough but not sure. Also I think that the 2600 clutch may not be enough now so I was going to check out my options and was thinking a 2900 maybe. I was going to also run ss fuel line from the filter to the new rail and from the rail to a new FPR but not sure what I am going to get for a FPR yet. All of that will be AN and SS braided lines with still using the stock hard lines to and from the tank.

I also got a new convertible top assembly and a new top as well so my power convert will work again yaaa!

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions as well. I will keep posting as I go.

That is what I was thinking but how far will the single with it rewired go? Dont want to have to do duals if I dont have to.

Well I took almost everything off under the hood and the motor and tranny are next this weekend. I will be cleaning everything from top to bottom by hand and getting rid of all AC and misc. wiring that is not needed. Here is a photo of the car so far. Anyone have any suggestions at this point that they have done to their cars that I should do?

do the battery! I can help you with the fuse box if you want. You dont have to do all the work I did. There is a simple way of doing it.

Re: Project Spring SPYDER update

I dunno if there's room for it on a 2g, but in my car I had to relocate the battery due to my upper intercooler pipe, so I just put it down on the K member. It was pretty easy, and works pretty slick!

Re: Project Spring SPYDER update

Well the new headgasket is installed, block painted up, and I am working on cleaning up the engine bay from top to bottom before the install of the engine. I found a hook up through a friend for free black powder coating so ill have photos later this week when I get stuff back from them. I placed an order through anplumbing.com for all of the fittings that I need and am also waiting for my COP plate to arrive for the assembly of that as well. One of the last things I need to do is order a few gaskets and find a link on how to convert a NT 1g throttle body to run with turbo, anyone have a link for me? Thanks to JET ill have my turbo ready as well as some custom piping as well that will also be powdercoated black!! Ill only be lowering the battery instead of relocating it. I will keep this updated as I complete more tasks.

Ya ya... it is taking for ever but it will all be worth it in the end I hope!
I just found out that the throwout bearing that was brand new only about 1000 miles ago has a broken tab off the side where that wire clips into it. That makes me mad!

Re: Project Spring SPYDER update

I'm just waiting for my powdercoated parts to come back which sounds like it will be next tuesday. I opened a small business doing internet website design and development so that is taking up a bunch of time along with work right now. I'm goin to work on the engine bay more tonight as well as installing a few parts into the tranny. after giving the tranny a quick bead blast it looks really nice!
