Im Bending over, Insert Rape Staff here...
 

Ok so on the way to work one of the main bolts on the transmission broke. The one that goes from the block to the tranny just above the half shafts. So the tranny wouldnt disengage, but i managed get it locked down enough to get it to a shop. I get it there, and the guy looks at it and decides that hes gonna have to take out the tranny to drill out the bolt.
He estimated 7 hours to pull the tranny and put it back in, (can one of the shop guys check this in the book?) and about 3 hours to drill out the bolt. At $78 /hour i have a feeling that they are going to charge me for a part i dont need and totally rape me. At least i made sure that they are going to use redline fluids. (im sure more rapage there too)
I just took it to the first shop i could find. But there isnt much i could do because the car needs to run.

I think book time on a 2G AWD is somthing like 7.4 hours. Probably half an hour less for a 2G FWD.

3 Hours to drill out a bolt tho? I did mine with no "real" tools and it took me like 45 min tops. That sucks tho man.

That sucks Tom :( Aren't modded DSM's fun? Hopefully no other damage(s) happened to the tranny or anything else.

The reason i wasnt gonna do it myself because, a little over a month ago i took out and put in my tranny 3 times in a single week in my garage while it was on jack stands. NOT AGAIN. And i was on my way to work.
Even though it took two full days to do this job they stood by their quote and didnt charge me any more then they quoted. Still cant believe it took them 6 hours to just take out the tranny. i did it easily in an hour and a half. without a lift.

Damn, it took them that long? It didnt even take me that long and I've hardly got tools, a couple jackstands and I was reading the vfaq all the way through it plus I'm not that big of a guy either...lol.
