Looking good man! No need to be throwing money at a car while you're unemployed, but looks like it will be a LOT of fun!

What kind of tranny/clutch is in there?

Thanks, I make enough to get by right now and every now and then i make a little extra and that goes into the car.

Yea it hasn't changed too much, although ive done a lot of little tedious things here and there to make it a little more unique. The front end conversion still isn't fully complete, I'm still waiting to find a near mint set of 1GA fenders...

As far as a Flywheel / Clutch setup, I have the ACT Streetlight 12.5# flywheel ,Exedy street disc, and a 2900# PP And a stock tranny.

I'm hoping that the clutch makes it through break in and by that time i should have enough money for a twin disc setup.

Hows your car been? I see Kevin driving around all the time i just ever get to say what up...

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

Lookin' good! Did you line hone the mains after putting in the ARP's? Did you use a dowel kit for them? I am just trying to keep you out of trouble, I had an experience with an engine with ARP's in and it was dowelled. I am now on a 2.4 that is dowelled and line honed. Are bigger cams in the picture as well after breakin?

GREASEMONKEY 06-04-2008 03:22 AM

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

I had the mains line honed but knew nothing about the dowel kit, I assume this is what your talking about?

http://www.machv.com/conracmbcadk.html

Im sure MAP can order these in and hopefully get me a better deal on them

I also want to pick up one of those Kiggly main braces if i can find one for a good deal, I thought about trying to make one but my motor is already in my car. My buddy works in a steel company and i can get pieces sheared to size... I looked on Magnus and Kiggly's site and neither of them mention a specific thickness...

Bigger cams are definatly in the picture i want to do some more research and drive the car a little bit before i get them.

Thanks for the info on those dowels, I definatly want to get a set of them now.

Hey Stephan whats up.

I'd like to see your car moving soon!

What are you rollin in, I haven't seen you?

JET 06-04-2008 11:20 PM

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

It's going to be too late for the dowels if the engine is already in. They need to be machined in and then line honed afterwards. The ARP mains are 1mm smaller than a stock main bolt, so they have some slop in them. I would honestly think about taking the mains back out and putting stock bolts in. Mine lasted 11k miles and was crankwalked .115" because of that.

It fits with a little cutting:wink:

As far as goals its hard to say right now, I know my tranny wont last long at all after break in so it will be time to go with either a dogbox or an auto setup and i would like to switch the suspension sometime after it gets running or sooner if i could find someone to trade me... The AGX's will do for a while but i would really like to pick up a set of K-Sports.

Anyways here are some more pictures. There was no way to fit a dsm radiator in there and after cutting up the whole front end of the car i had to make my own radiator support / bumper cover support.

My hopes are to have it running by middle to late august and hopefully have it at a fall dyno day if there is going to be one.

Picked up the FPR, SMIM, and Q45 TB From John, I also picked up a set of 17" ADR DV8's, and some other goodies...

At this point I started going through some of the wiring, Im trying to keep it as clean as possible but there isnt much i can do without the EMS and sensors.

Hopefully soon i will be picking that up as well as the fuel setup...

I will update as the progress continues:)

Hey I looked at a summit catalog this morning, a lot of the companys that make AN fittings also make alum. hard line sold in coils or even steel like that mates up with -8 or -10. Didn't see any thing for -12 though.

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

I kinda like the "backwards" fuel system.

sleepydsm 10-12-2008 01:19 PM

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

Uh yeah, mikes right? The feed from the pump should go right into the rail, and then from the rail into the AFPR, then to the return line.

EclipseGST 10-12-2008 04:46 PM

Re: Something I've Been Working On...

The feed from the pump does go right into the rail, on the drivers side of the rail... It doesnt "have" to go the same direction as stock... I had my car setup the same way and it worked just fine. A lot easier to set it up this way with -10AN lines. They are not so easy to bend.

Picture = http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...Picture083.jpg

Both lines come from the same side, feed follows the firewall and into the right end of the fuel rail, then out the left side and into the FPR, then back to the fuel cell.

Setup looks good man. Interested to see this thing run next year hopefully!
