I like the SS vaccum line!. But that is retarded overkill.

cute

badass setup for sure and I'm sure i'd sound badass, but it's definitely not needed.

I wonder if it's a divided exhaust housing.

Looks like it's tearin' ass just sittin' there!

Re: just a little overkill

Its probably a divided housing noobert.

Re: just a little overkill

Check the hotside, it has two ports:

You need to keep them separate or you loose the point of it being twin-scroll.

^so are u saying 2 wg's are necessary?

Halon 05-23-2008 08:51 AM

Re: just a little overkill

If you only run 1 on a divided manifold/turbo setup, you will either only be venting the exhaust gasses out of only half of the runners. Or if you setup the wg outlet pipe on the manifold to connect to both sides of the divide, well then it's really no longer fully divided now.

Are you still an engineering major?

Yes sir I am. Next year will be fluid dynamics. But for now, let me tell you about chemistry and calculus and statics and how to make 70 plus part designs on pro-e. I never claimed to know everything, I was simply wondering why I have yet to see a manifold with two flanges for wgs.

Didn't really sound like you asked anything, you just assumed the person was an idiot.

I don't think Jakey needs you to tell him how to do any of that.

HiImBrian 05-23-2008 12:37 PM

Re: just a little overkill

You're right, I never asked. I simple thought it was "just a little overkill." I have since learned that it is necessary on that specific turbo. I don't know a turbo by just looking at it unless it's a 16g or a 50 trim.

E-Thuggin!! cuz fightin in real life is dangerous!! hahaha

Re: just a little overkill

Easy now boys!

Brian, Jakey's comment hints at the fact that maybe you might have taken upon yourself to do a little research into the turbo setup, since you have an engineering interest. You didn't, you just made a comment that tuned out to be silly in retrospect :)

yea were far from an "e-fight" or "e-thuggin." I've admitted already in this case it is necessary and not overkill like I thought. I think it looks badass, but I'm also wondering why I have never seen a setup like this before.

Re: just a little overkill

Yeah, I'm sure it's been done before, it's just the matter of some people seeing them and some not. Sure is cool none-the-less!

Re: just a little overkill

I def. agree ^ very cool looking setup!

Re: just a little overkill

Isn't the white 05 evo @ DB got this setup on it w/ a 4088R or 4094? Pretty sure it does....

Goat Blower 05-23-2008 04:09 PM

Re: just a little overkill

That's pretty common nowadays, just not here on this board. I've seen one wastegate tied together above a divided housing, but at a certain turbo size, you need a second wastegate to keep the boost down for street driving. :sasmokin:

Re: just a little overkill

Yea, I have seen a very similar setup on my buddys GST... He is rockin a GT42R with the split hotside... Im pretty sure this is the same turbo... Pretty kickass looking if you ask me...

tim 05-23-2008 10:22 PM

Re: just a little overkill

Pretty common in Evo land with all the 42Rs out there now.

yeah ive seen it on some AMS evos
