i LOVE SWAPPING RODS EVERY SEASON!!! GRODIN HERE I COME!!!!
People expect these motors to last more than a season? :goodluck:
Depends who built it and how much you spent. I wouldn't be pissed off if I spent $500 for the motor but I would if I spent $4000 on the block.

Doesn't matter who built it. If it's really a race motor and if you really race it, there's no getting around the rebuild. If you paid $4k for the rebuild, better start saving up or start learning how to do it yourself.

Eagles have proven to be a nice budget rod, nuff said, from rau's 175mph traps,
Rau doesn't run Eagles rods.
I wouldn't believe he was running eagles if you paid me. With his current setup, was't he saying he believed about 1160 to the wheels? Eagles are fine for budget rods, but I wouldn't try running them in anything over 650 or so. Beyond that, Crower, Pauter or I beamed Carillo's.

JET 09-12-2004 04:04 PM

Rau is running custom aluminum rods. They were for a Chevy 350, but he had the bores sized for a DSM. He did have to clearance the block on his 2.0.

john 09-12-2004 05:39 PM

Yeah, I believe Rau is running aluminum pistons and rods. He showed me the last time I was at his shop.

Next you are going to tell me they are forged!! :stick:

slowbubblecar 09-12-2004 09:00 PM

Yup, alluminum. I thought i heard him say that also. He was bragging that they ended up lasting him a whole season.

That's why I'm not voting.

You mean Brent lied to them??? :secret: Oh nooooooo......

RedStal95 09-14-2004 01:17 AM

I feel bad for you dsm guys having to pay for aluminum aftermarket pistons. Mustangs come with them stock, along with the stock aluminum axles and rear ends too.

Super Bleeder!! 09-14-2004 04:45 AM

dsm's come stock with CAST aluminum pistons, as do most cars. we are talking about forged pistons genius.

can a 4.6 GT make 530whp on stock rods/pistons? with twice the cyls? i highly doubt it, those motors are pieces of shit unless they are the built ones in the cobras.

and since your car has sooo much aluminum in it, why does it weigh more than our heavy steel awd cars?

unless you drive an 03 cobra i'd shut the hell up, maybe you should go race tyler on pump gas again. or kevin for that matter. and dont forget to fill up your bottle of "fast" or god knows you won't be able to get out of your own way

not to stir the pot and get off topic, but I think his car is faster than yours.
And if im not mistaken, he has a 5.0, not the 4.6.
Anywho, I was mistaken on the rau 175mph traps, im not sure where I got that from, but whatever I was wrong.
