Hey guys. That's my '03 R6 up there. Just thought I'd let you know about my insurance rates. I'm 29, married with a baby girl, and I have 2 cars, my bike, our house, and my life insurance through State Farm, which helps. However, when I insured the bike last year I didn't have 2 cars, life insurance, or a baby, so they don't really figure in. I got quoted $2800 a year from Progressive, whom I promptly told to go **** themselves. I checked with State Farm and they quoted me $300 a year for the best coverage they offer and no deductible. I have 1 ticket on my record from 2 years ago (78 in a 55) an I've had one every couple of years or so for the same thing. Anyway, if you ask almost any sport bike rider, they'll tell you that State Farm is the best for rates, but they don't screw around. If you get nailed more than a couple of times, you're out. Then you're looking at high risk which is going to be anywhere from $3000-$5000 a year. Might as well sell the bike at that point.
Chica with the '04: the first thing you need to do (after taking the class and getting your gear) is get rid of that ugly rear fender and put some smaller blinkers on, or maybe even integrate them like I did (www.vfxkits.com). If you're interested, check out the R6messagenet (http://pub114.ezboard.com/byamahar6messagenet) for a lot of really great info on your bike. I have the same username over there and we're always looking for new members (10,000 strong right now). Ride safe! |
Hey Tyler, welcome aboard. :bounce:
|
Yep, State Farm is the way to go! I have mine through there too. Like he said though, they will tolerate 2 tickets in 3 years, but after the 3rd you get booted.

looking good
please be safe, glad to see everything is going well in b-ville. And this is just great, I already had to watch out for a 'bouncy' white 2g rolling up on my from a roll, now I have to watch for an equally nutty girl on an r6? f* this, im gonna park the stealth. Lol, j/k guys, best of luck. |
Just out of curiosity is it true that the insurance fallows the driver and not the bike?
Cause if it fallows the bike, do I even have to worry about getting insurance since it's not my bike? |
Bad ass I think I'm going to get a bike here next month.
Shaun with the supra is selling those pocket bikes for $450 I'm going to look into getting one in R6 blue. How funny would that be. I'll be riding the pocket bike while Jenny rides the R6. |

I wan't it just for tooling around the neighborhood or at Rock Falls or something.
I view like a goped or something. -Brian |
Here's a link to what the pocket bikes look like:
http://www.mnracing.org/modules.php?name=F...der=asc&start=0 I think we should all forget the go-ped races at the dsmshoot out and go with pocket bike races. -brian |
Id rather have a Yamaha YSR50 than a pocket bike.
They are older and are spendier though. They top out at 60mph though and are really just a small race bike. They do have proffesional races with them. YSR50 |
Ya these top out at 40mph but hell for $450 they'd be a riot. I think my old skate boards used to cost more then that.
Plus I have a lot of kids in my neighborhood that freaking ride up and down my street all the time on there go-peds I want to challenge them to a race.... muuhahahaha. :3gears: |
Speaking of YSRs my brother has one he is trying to get rid of. He just stripped it all down, painted the frame and wheels, put an 2004 R1 kit on it with Rapto headlights, after market pipe and a bunch more goodies. Fun bike to ride!
Those Blata whatever mini motorcycles are fun for about 10 minutes, then you start to realize how little you can actually do with them. I have a friend who can buy them by the container load (20 units) for about $330 a bike. |
How much does he want^?
|
Shaun with the Silver metalic TT Supra is the one selling them.
$450 a bike. How much for that YSR? got any picts? -brian |
The pocket bikes look cool and I have wanted one for a wile but doubt I will get one. I looked around ebay and all the ones there had the body cover the motor (like a real sport bike) which I think looks cooler but you could probably get that later. Also ones with similar cc's had buy it nows for between 1600 and below 400 (with free shipping) all were with 47cc or more. I don't know how far below 400 because I don't want to wait another 5 minutes for page three to load (computer problems)
here is one that looks like the same bike exactly but for a buy it now of 399 and free shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=47352 |
Yeah, if you buy a lot shipment of them on ebay you can get them for $200 each. Shaun is making a killing on them.
|
yeah he is getting a good profit.
here is a auction that just ended of one exactly like his but with a 49cc motor that just sold for 305 + 98 shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=47352 these are a different brand but sound alot the same that you can order direct for 300 + 69 shipping. Seems like a lot better deal if you ask me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=47352 |
How about we get back to topic...lol
|
Congrat's on the bike, looks good.
So... When are we going riding? I just picked up my 97 Suzuki Savage about a month ago and it's finally looking like riding weather. |
She's got to get her permit first.
