With the Eagle rods, did the ends require any resizing before use?
|
Since we were capping at 46lbs a min, and chris talked to a dsmlink guy that looked at his log and 'estimated' at 51lbs/min I would venture a guess of 450-475awhp right now.
And the problem was the wires, not the plugs. When he gets back, he'll throw in a maf-t and up it to 35psi or so on elites dyno. |
I was reading that also on dsmlink forums. (I'm the one that asked the question)
51lbs/min is impressive considering: 1G head 1G Cams 1G Intake Manifold I'm seeing 52lbs/min on pump gas with my car. But I'm reving to 8,000rpms how high is Chris Reving his car to? and it's creeps from 22psi at 7200rpms up to 25psi when I hit 8,000rpms. On Race Gas at 25psi - I was seeing 54lbs/min for my 456.7whp? And I'm running HKS 264/272s, and Magnus SMI. So gets some damn cams, and a sheet metal in that thing and let see some 57lbs/min |
I dunno, it was an estimate via my butt after riding in johns car. We are only running 25.3psi peak, its averaging around 23psi I would say. Spool-up is insanly fast and he is reving to 7500rpm right now. Once he does some head work/sheetmetal/cams this winter, it should really scoot!
On the dyno we were hitting 36lbs a minute or so. It would get to 42, then fall back, then go back to 40 and make peak power. I'll see if I can get some dyno graphs posted sometime soon. The car was missing the entire time, and still made good power. I wish we would of swapped plug wires at the dyno, would of saved time last night, but things always work out for the best. If the car would of been 'tuned' not last night, drain plug would of probably fell out somewhere in Wisconsin and he would of been SOL. Sometimes things happen for reasons.. |
so true..
congrats... and btw, Chris, you called? sorry i missed your call. whats up? _E |

I don't know about his car.
But we are basically running the same turbo but he has a .82 a/r And I know the difference in Airflow from 7500 - 8,000 is big. At about 7500rpms - most of the time I'm only at about 45lbs/min At 8,000rpms I'm at about 52lbs/min So all I got to say is DAMN - maybe he will hit 60lbs/min with Cams, And SMI. |
it must be something about that 7th bolt thing that is causing the problems with the transfer case!

to the pistons? no, not in Chris's case. 1G rods to 2G pistons or 1G rods to Wiesco's are in need of some machining/bushing.
|
Ross pistons also can require pin fitting to the rod on the small end. Wisecos are usually dead on.
|
I'm referring to the build quality of the Eagle rods. There have been people who have run into trouble with the Eagle 4G63 rods having imperfections which required possibly resizing them, as in the journals not being in spec from the factory.

Nope no problems with the rods, and Mike checked everything over himself 7 or so times to make sure lol!
Yeah with the MAS pinned I am not sure about actual airflow, basically the ECU is guessing at this point based on VE tables...Also revving the 8000 at this point is doable, but probably wouldn't yield much of a gain due to stock head/cams/intake manifold... We'll stick with 7500 and 25 psi for the SO, once I get back we'll see whats up :) Chris |
Chris, looks like you are heading in the right direction. Nice job on the 7bolt, hope you do well at the SO.
Does everybody have 400+ HP cars now? :bounce: Jim |
no, yours hasn't started yet. lol
|
I believe Chris has a larger turbo than you Brian if I can remember right. You have a gt35 right?
