Re: Bastard 20g goes kabloom!
Well, as of 6pm I have the manifold pulled, and drained the oil. No signs of anything nasty in the oil yet. I ended up limping (veeerrrrryy gingerly) the car the 4 miles home on back-roads with AJ behind me ready to pick me up (thanks AJ!). The car was too low to to get onto the flat-bed! I'll finish yanking the turbo in a bit when it cools down more.

Re: Bastard 20g goes kabloom!
Well, I found the root of the problem. One of the blades on the turbine wheel is chomped in half, and the whole thing must be way off balance now. There must be some sort of bearing failure as well, as it was leaking oil out of the feed line area, but not sure what the deal is there.

Re: Bastard 20g goes kabloom!
WTF! how does something get through the engine without wrecking it and then eat a blade?

Re: Bastard 20g goes kabloom!
I think either the blade just broke on it's own accord, or there was some weird bearing issue and that blade landed and broke itself off.
