View Full Version : How often does your DSM break?

I was driving to work today just wondering... I hear people saying how DSM's are always broken but so far my DSM's have been very reliable. With any car you have to replace some parts every once in a while, but why are so many DSM's broke down all the time? Seems like 90% of the people on this site either don't own a DSM or have one that doesn't run. What's the deal?

I purchased mine with an oil burning issue so technically the only problem which has developed is my clutch issue. I'm hoping to have that resolved with a new master & slave cylinders along with braided clutch line.

The braided clutch line has been the best $10 I've spent on my car so far. My clutch used to engage just off the floor. Now it engages a few inches off of the floor. It made the 2100 feel lighter than stock. Two thumbs up.

DSMs are fine unless you modify them, obviously that just accelerates shit breaking. I have owned a bunch of DSMs and they usually were pretty decent when they were stock. But who the fuck can leave a car stock, I sure can't.

Its all in the boost addiction. Once you feel the slight rush of the t25 for the first time you have been addicted and want more and more boost. and then you o.d sometimes so you have to fix it. Its just the way modifying cars goes. we get our fix and want some more, when we get more we want even more then that. until it dies. Then you give it a heart transplant and it starts all over.

I've only had the GSX for a little over a year and i can't complain. It's pretty modded up and I thankfully didn't have any problems with it to date.
My only complain would be the tranny's. Whomever designed the tranny's, had their head up their asses. JUNK!!! I went through 4 of them with my old '97 GST.

I'm still thinking about buying a 1g, because of all the maintenance work i've heard on a decent one...i might have to go to a 2g dsm. My cousin's talon has had his talon no longer than 5 months, daily driven, and the tranny broke out on him.
