Our DSM cars are farely easy to work on as well. I drive a Grand AM GT as a daily driver and I dread ever have to work on that thing. Actually i did. The power steering pump went out on me last year. I had to remove one of the motor mounts to get at it. What i thought was gonna take 45 minutes, took me 2+ hours. With DSM's, everything is fairly accessable to get at. Shit... on some GM's, you have to remove the under-carriage just to take the tranny out.

On a 99 Dodge Intrepid, you have to loosen the motor mounts to change the spark plugs. And take off the tire/wheel well to get to the battery.

I would post in this thread if it had been named slightly different.....something along the lines of "How often does your DSM work?"

My 1st 1G was the biggest pile of shit ever. I bought it knowing nothing of DSMs. 2nd gear was shot, the clutch was toast. I went through 2 trannys and 2 clutches with that car. I got a 'walked 2G, that I sold because I was lazy. I now have a 92 AWD 5 spd, that has been extremely reliable. I have a stock tranny, and it's gonna last me a long time. Why? Because of how I drive the car, the one thing I do is baby the piss out of my tranny. Even if I'm racing on the street or at the track, I'd rather shift my tranny nice and slow than risk blowing it up on some fuck head in a riced civic.

I'm gonna start a log of how many days my DSM is running. Any bets on how long it is before it breaks?
