I know that you can purchase memory upgrades for laptops, but can you even purchase hard drives?

Yea you can, they are a little smaller and they are more expensive than the regular.

Try out General Nanosystems (http://www.nanosys1.com/). They always have good prices. Plus they're local. Right off university in St. Paul. I just bought a USB 2.0 PCI card from them for $14.99. Best Buy, Circuit City Etc. had them starting at $35. So I saved $20, not bad. I looked, and they have laptop hard drives starting at $129.99 for a 20Gb. By Comparison, Comp USA has the same 20gb hard drives starting at $167.55.
