it is worth it to do both, but seriously you already have the plugs out to do a compression test, wouldn't it be nice to actually look at the pistons rings and cylinder walls if you have that capability? Visual inspection is nice and is an easy way to figure out for sure if there was piston to valve interference. Not to mention if you pay attention while you are in there other things could be spotted as well such as damage to the piston top from detonation etc.
You plan on doing all of these tests after the new belt is on right? Dont want it to skip anymore. Doens the car not even crank when you try to turn it over?

The boroscope can be done before the belt. The engine doesn't need to be turned over for that, it is just visual inspection. If that shows there is no significant damage or indication of valve to piston impact, redo the timing belt then do the compression test to verify things are in order. If however there is valve to piston impact, it will show up with the boroscope test and I would pull the head at that point and check the valves to make sure they are seating properly and not bent.

Yea sometime this week we can do the boroscope... Possible earlier this week, maybe Tuesday, Ill have to see how things go... cant put it back together anyway because I have to go get the new parts from Mitsu... Or maybe you can come over before Shooters if people are going and check it out and then we could go down there... whatever works.
If nothing shows on the Boroscope than Ill put it all together and see what is shoots for compression #'s and be doen with it...
When we were checking things out before we took stuff apart, my dad wanted to hear the noise adn how the car ran, so he started it while I wasnt there and then I came out there and tried to start it and it cranked and stopped... so Im not sure if it skipped another tooth on the last startup and then it was too much for timing to start the car or if things were hitting and not letting it start... well see what happens.

LOL well my dad wanted to here the knocking, so he started it and he said it was really loud but I told him the lifters tick pretty loud so maybe thats what he was hearing... Mobil 1 sucks ass for lifter tick. But anyway so he shut it down.. then we tried started it again and it was weird... but we pulled the plugs and spun the engine and it did.. so under load it wouldnt... so I dont think anything was hitting, it just couldnt start because timing was way off.

Well last wednesday Mike-Raptor came over with the boroscope and we determined that valves did slightly touch the pistons. So on Friday I put it back together, just the T-belt and balance belt and we checked compression with nothing else put together. Compression in all 4 cylinders was 150. If any of them were under 140-145 I would rebuild the head....
But since compression was good, on saturday I put the rest back together and started it up. It started and I drove it and it vibrated like MAD... couldnt go over 3k because it felt as if it would fall apart...
So had to pull everything apart again on Sunday and everything looked lined up, well I skipped the step that determines if the right balance shaft was lined up right (it is behind the Oil pump assembly and is run by the gear...
So anyway put it all back together again and had success, car ran smooth as ever and it seems to be good to go. Got lucky with the Valves.
Thanks for help again Mike.
If anyone needs help with a Tbelt I think ive become certified this past weekend. :)

Good to hear, Peter. Hopefully you'll gain some more power out of this.
Nice to hear it is running fine.
