admin- I didn't know where to put this because it does really fit any kind of tech category or pavement drag racing.

I feel stupid for asking but the car isn't going to the track until i can launch it. I'm too used to my old GST launching. I have a '99 GSX that i'm having troubles launching big time. I have my 2step studder box in dsmlink set for like 5600rpms. I tried just dumping it right off the floor and it bogs it terrible right down into the low 2k rpm range. I also tried letting clutch out some just to where she starts to grab and then dump it, same crap. Boost is at about 16psi for now because our 93oct. fuel sucks. 50trim turbo, etc. Ideally, you'd never want your rpms to drop below your studderbox level. I lose 2 seconds easily. I thought about 1 thing on the way home to add to this post. Over the winter i put in an entirely new clutch system, master, slave, clutch, SS line. My clutch disengages now probably 2+ inches off the floor. Last year when i first got the car i had problems with the clutch disengaging almost right off the floor, maybe 1/2". That's why i put all new in. Turns out the master was bad. Would you guys think that 2" would cause my launching problems? And where does your clutch disengage approx, off the floor ??

Mine is about 4-5" off the floor. I wouldn't ever drop it. I tried that a couple times back when I had a 16G and it would bog on me also when trying to launch at a reasonable RPM, I wasn't going to try it at 6200+ RPMs. Just learn how to quickly slip it.

Honestly, I couldn't tell ya how I do it. It is just something you have to get a feel for. I have a stutterbox also and my pedal feels like 1 inch.

I didn't have any trouble launching my talon before when I had the 20g. With the smallwer turbos, you can pretty much dump it, but with the bigger ones, you need to slip it more. Just keep on practicing the slipping and maybe try missing with the pedal hight more. My 2600 on my gst engages at stock hieght for me.

i have a two step set at 5500.

here is how I launch with a 16g

This has to happen in about 1/4 of a second too, so you'll need practice.

gas all 75% of the way down. and slip the clutch about 1/3 the way. . As you push the gas to WOT, release the clutch at the same rate as you push down the gas. So basically alternate their location.

I keep my revs above 5 grand everytime and do not get any burnt clutch. The first 3-4 times I did it, I had too much clutch and did burn it a tad.

it is enough to keep r6's off my bumper till the middle of 2nd gear :-D

Last season I had my stutter set at 6500, which was a bit high and I would spin pretty bad but still got 1.8 60 foots. But one thing you have to do is don't pull your foot up from the pedal, just move it to the left, that way you don't have the possiblity of subconsciously riding the pedal as it goes up. Just kick the kick panel is what I do. Then just work on fine tuning the point at where the stutter stops. Also how much boost are you building while at launch RPM? On my 16G I could build around 12psi which contributed to some of my wheel spin. Fortunately I had a two stage boost control which let me keep the boost low until I got out of the 60 foot, then I could turn it back to 22psi for the rest of the 1320.

Good luck.

Thanks guys for the great methods. I've printed and gonna try later if the pavements not wet here. I'm not sure on the boost during the studderbox. I'll have to check that later. It seems like when i had my boost up to 19psi, i had lesser of a problem on the launch. Also, when i first got the car and had the T25 yet, and the clutch was basically disengaging 1/2" off the floor, I never had this problem. It was basically like a light switch. You let it out 1/2" and it was full on. That's why i asked about where your points were. On regular street blacktop, i have NO wheelspin whatsoever. That will contribute to the rpms being pulled down.

I'm so used to the GST with it's wheelspin and wheelhop. It's hard to teach myself new tricks. I was hoping this was gonna be as easy as rev/dump but i can see it's more like rev/slip/dump. 19" wheels probably aren't helping me any either.

i think nitros would help put it to the floor and dump it then spray it. it should make up for the lag thats what i did on a costomers car once the car goss on the turbo he lets of the spray it is just for lonches but it is on a awd dodge stelth if that helps

I always dumped from 6500rpm or higher and pulled high 1.7 60s on all seasons. But that was at an IA track with the torque monster T25
