S.O.B. that's alot of money! Are you required to have insurance in MN? Right now that i have a good job again i'm covered, $550/6mo. for 99GSX. But a few years back when i lost my old job in a down size, i had to do alot of cut spendings and i ended up going quite awhile(over a year), without any car insurance. In WI, we're NOT YET required to have insurance. Other than that year, i've had car insurance for about 17 years and only have had 2 claims, not my fault(car/deer). Truthfully, if it weren't the risk of theft of the car completely, i'd rather see sticking the $1100/yr. in the bank. Insurace is all the mob. Pay thousands of dollars in premiums and go without claims and the one moment you make a clamin, they jack you up.

Yes insurance is required in MN. I believe it should be required also. It is like social security. If were were not required to throw money away for savings, people would not be able to retire. I know I, myself would be better off sticking insurance money in the bank and saving it until I need it but I know that most people will not. I do not think that most people would have enough self disapline to be able to hold onto the money. I would rather keep the system the way it is. When a drunk driver smashes into your best friends car paralysing him, it is nice to know they are able to pay through insurance.

Enes, I am pretty sure you are not talking about your car. Must be an apartment complex or something.

Yeah, it's pretty much "do i risk it?" to people. The way the economy is going though, i can't blame some people for making those kinds of decisions though. I believe in paying for the damages of an accident and that's it. Nowdays, everyone wants to sue for mega bucks and that's a reason why insurance is so high. If they would get to the source of the problem there wouldn't be so much of this problem. The same goes for medical insurance high premiums. I know alot of people that don't even carry med ins. because they can't afford it. It's mandatory to have car insurance but not required to have med. I'd rather fork over $$ for med before car ins. anyday.

I'm sure he didn't mean apartment or homeowners insurance. Those are generally pretty reasonable. With those kind of rates, he must be on a extremely high risk plan for some reason or own about 8 cars.
